How to add ski pressure?

I have a TS '15 short track with TSS mounted to '15 FC450 with .58 fork springs. Ski could track better and lacks the bite compared to my buddies ride which is a '13 KX450 '14 TS short track and no TSS. I running 280lbs now in my TSS. I assume I need to add more ski pressure for a more planted feel? Thanks for any input.

options
  • take off the TSS
  • soften the front track shock
  • stiffen the rear track shock
  • try moving the forks up and down in the fork clamps to see what positon you like
  • put a limiter strap on the front arm of the skid so you can limit the travel
  • scoot your bars all the wa forward in the clamps to move your body weight forward

you could adjust the shims in your rear suspension arm also

I do not believe in ski-pressure on a snow bike.

They are not dirt bikes and excessive ski pressure has the exact opposite effect from what you may expect.

The trick is to have a well balanced front to back end.

Sliding forward like a dirt bike to add pressure in turns just leads to shi**y handling and feel.

The lighter I can get the frond end(with maintaining proper rear suspension geometry) the better they handle.

Ride them from the back like a dirt bike in soft sand dunes

rjj,
Can you clarify if you are talking on trail or off trail riding?

Trail riding. Handles like a dream off trail. The Kawa just rails on the trail where my Husky does not have the BITE the other bike has and the front ski wants to wash out.

2014 and not 2015, but some discussion here...

Just read whole thread and I would describe my symptom exactly as yours Chadx. Now after riding both skis 14 and 15 version on at least 5 different days / snow conditions I am thinking the solution is in set up. The 14 ski on friends Kawa certainly performs better on the trail than my 15 set up. Next ride I will play with fork height in the triple clamps then rear shocks after that. I sure miss Timbersleds advice on this forum from days past.
