How to ad hp to 03 Summit 800?

got an 03 summit 800 this year with new engine. Broke it, then fixed it and absolutely love it. Now I want to make it more "fun". What are the best and safest mods I can do to get a little more "oomph"?

Best - pipes
Safest - Take the stickers off

Seriously - more "oomph" means you have to sacrifice on safety somewhere. Pipes or NOS will give it more jam, but not really that safe. Make it lighter (as stated) and work the clutching over IMO to get more oomph and still be safe. Clutching will put more power to the track and for every lb you drop, the performance advantage is huge.

Never seen pipes help too much on these early 800s. Although Dyno-port singles help some. RKT head and piston/ring replacement are best for improving the motor. I used Wiesco pistons and had great results but some have bad luck with them.

Gut the thermostat to prevent sudden burn downs from failed thermostat. Replace reed block since they delaminate. V-Force or Boyseen makes no real difference.

As said-Clutching, clutching and more clutching.

As said -remove weight.

Ok....

ya i already have an slp can. what are the best ways to lighten it up tho? some of my riding buddies seems to think a turbo package is a relatively safe way to get lots of hp, but I dont think i want that much. Guy i bought sled from said with the engine rebuild and the can it has about 160 hp as is. I was thinking about trying to stick a 151 x 15 x 2.5 track on there somehow, but evidendtly that requires some suspension work. Ideally, I would like to have that track on it, about 180 hp, and have it weigh about 460-470 (it weighs 495 now). I am not sure if this is realistic or even possible as I do not have a whole lot of experience with sleds. What'dya think?

Nos is the cheapest biggest HP gain you can doo. Now If it is dialed in safely and you don't try to get too much out of it, Then it is rea safe, I have run bottle after bottle through my sleds for the past 4 years or so, Now I have had some burn downs but they were not related to nos, One was I forgot oil then the Boondockers box went bad and leaned my 1000 out to much, and yesterday lost a ring pin out of the piston, and broke the ring, head cylinder and piston all wasted. Not NOS induced.

My 1000 with everything working i can run 2 bottles a day and you wouldn't see it in the wear.

Rebuilt your sled has maybe 138-140 hp. Sorry! And thats optimistic. The can saves weight but hp??? NO! New 800R is only 151!!! The things I reccomended will give you a good solid power plant.

Weight loss.

1. Add scratchers and remove all idlers.
2. Remove sway bar.
3. Remove foam from hood.
4. Port track.
5. Slydog skis.
6. Light weight suspension parts.
7. Boss seat.
8. Light weight hood.
