I put over 700 miles on mine last year, never had the track ratchet, and never tightened the track. I swapped tracks this year and put the tension as per the manual. My hyfax show some wear, but have TONS of life left in them so I think I'll stay with what the manual says.

loose is free horsepower, the tighter the track = more drag, and hyfax wear, i have an 08 rtx nytro and have to run the track tight or the drivers will rachet. These sleds should have come with exverted drivers .
