how much oil do you burn

how much oil do you burn with a full tank of gas?

I ride hard, but I think I am burning more oil then most

one full tank of gas, I burn almost 1.5-2 quarts..

only smokes a lot on cold start up..

I fill from a bucket, so not sure on actual quantity, but if I'm TOPPED off, I end up just above the 1/2 tank line each day. I can go 2 days on a tank, 2nd day the light is on 1/2 the day.

Don't buy into the propaganda of these things sipping oil... if you ride HARD... they use a ton of it, and they should. The only way these use less than average is if you're riding on the trail at some nominal consistent throttle level, and who cares about how much oil you use there?

Actually, I filled from a quart container day after filling my sled last weekend, and a quart didn't come very close to the top. I'd say my usage is about 1.5-1.75 quart/ hard day based on that now that I think about it. My 13 was the same, my wife's 14 uses a bit less, but she is more even keel than I am, as far as throttle usage, where I like to pin it more.

That's just my use... I'm sure others have different results, but having 3 in the driveway, and riding with 4 others on & off, I've found that my "hey, they said this didn't burn any oil" comments when I bought the first one last year were met with the same thing I just said... "yeah... if you're not really riding, it doesn't!"

Well I ride deep snow and WOT. Sled runs about 36:1

you didn't state if you had any mods, or what track length you had...

my point... it's subjective. Most people ride some trail to get to places, or ride easier at some point during the day, it's not physically possible to be "WOT" all day long, so we're always comparing apples & oranges.

Btw, I'm a 146, which means I spin more, so I know my usage is a bit of an orange from that comparison sake... just giving an example though.

The short answer is: my sons 2005 REV Summit 800 HO uses double the oil my e-tec uses.

REV seems to be running about 28:1

E-tec is about 50:1.
