How much do you typically stiffen up the front springs?

I'm riding a RMZ450. Stock fork springs are 0.48 kg/mm. I'm 6'2" and 190lbs.

My questions are:

1. How much stiffer would you recommend to go on the front fork springs over stock, given the info above? I'm going to get them likely revalved and resprung with racetech, but all the suspension guys around here do motocross and not snowbikes, so they don't have experience with snow bike setup.
2. If I set it up with stiffer springs for the snowbike, is it too stiff in the summer in the dirt?

Thanks.

I would just ride it but I know for me I like it much stiffer than dirt unless your into fmx...

i have been doing some resdarch on this myself. It seems thst the springrate u run will be dependant on if u stiffen up the valving and how much. I am goinb to run. 58's and stiffen up the compression some. 2016 husky 501.

Get the stiffest fork springs you can. With rmz moto valving you can add stiff springs and use 7 or 10 wt oil at 380cc. For summer just put stock springs and 5 wt oil back in.

I've had some done by race tech. Usually you'll be a 56ish spring. If you run it like it is you will bottom out a lot unless you ride very conservatively.

does anyone think that having the TSS will effect how stiff of front end you'll need?

I think it will cut down the need... Just sitting on it and compressing the suspension puts it back to a normal dirt bike feel/stroke.... We will see whats it is like out in the wild.

I honestly doubt it, that's why I ordered .62 springs, my weight fluctuates between 200-220, and want to be able to handle drops and jumps etc.

I do think the TSS will make lighter springs not feel as bad, but unless you are really shifting a lot of weight to the back of the bike, it will likely be needed, maybe not as heavy, but we don't really know.

Ditto what he said. My bike felt like the front end was dragging and very "stink bug" like on stock springs. I went from .48 to .52 and it made a world of difference! I wish I could have found even stiffer springs. 08 CRF450

I can't express how much better it is, get stiffer springs!

I'm ~170 lbs without gear. I went with .60's on my KTM 300 XC-W (open chamber forks).

I will be running 5W oil, stock-ish oil level, stock valving but will turn up the compression damping.

.52-.56 on all bikes regardless of your weight don't be afraid of 7-10 wt fork oil at max outer level. SKF mud Scraper will also help keep the water out.

Should be reworded for most dirt bike applications, skill levels and weight. Example; R1 1000cc litre bike 137" track running .62kg/mm and may have to have some custom wound, still not stiff enough.
