how much boost and nitrous on nytro

how much will a stock motor take with head shim

Most turbo companies will tell you with a shim not to run more than 15-16 lbs with stock pistons and rods. I know guys that have run 18lbs pretty much all year with no issues. Who wants to take a $4500 chance? If one of those rods go it's all over and they are the first thing to usually go. I just installed my Carillo rods and JE pistons and could not believe how much beefier the Carillos are over stock rods. The low comp pistons also get rid of the shim which increases throttle response and engine power not to mention the chance of a shim blowing out at 18 lbs. With the upgraded motor you can run 18-25 lbs with a shot of Nitrous and be confident that the motor will hold up.

Just my 2 cents.
