How many rides do you do in one Winter.

I have a question and I am just curious how many rides does the average sledder makes in one winter. The group of guys I ride with for this year we made a pledge to get out at least a dozen rides before winter is over. Is this average or below average for a sledder. One of my buddy is willing to go every weekend ,but sometimes im hesitant. I know that it all depends on the snow condition and the weather permitting. Do you think I just need to step it up and just go ride.

I'll go between 20 -25 times and end up somewhere around 800 - 1000 miles per year

And YES, step it up and ride!! :)

We will ride 3 to 4 times a week every week through out the snowmobile season. We do this every yr. some weeks we ride 4 and 5 days. and we ride from the first of dec. tell the first of may on a normal yr. So that comes out to be 60 days a season if we only ride 3 days a week. I put on about 2000 miles a yr. sometimes more sometimes a little less.

I used to try for every weekend depending on weather and conditions. Now with a young family I'm lucky to make it 6-8 trips a year. But that will change with time!!

This is my third season. First year 600 miles, maybe 20 days. Second year, 850-900 miles around 30-35 days? This season I live about 7 miles from the trailhead, but somehow have only gone 6 or 7 times so far (started mid October). I think I'm not as motivated with the crumby snow, and so are my riding buddies. But, I was just out today, and despite the bad snow still had a blast, so I should (and will) suck it up and just enjoy whats there. I'm expecting ~1500 miles this season with hopefully 50+ days.
Hey, I just finished college, have little to no responsibility, and live in a mountain town. I better live it up.:face-icon-small-ton

Did around 1200 miles last year...usually try and get in around 30 rides or so...sometimes more...weather permitting!

I average 25-30 rides per year (pretty much every weekend) and right around 1,000 miles annually.... This years isn't looking as good with all the snow we aren't getting:(

I try and ride two times a weekend and 1 trip a year. Average about 2000 miles a season. New kids are slowing that down a little.

Some of the best rides are totaly unexpected as far as; snow depth/condition, weather, company with/met, and overall experience. Been many rides that for one reason or another thought it was going to be not so good at the start and then get back and think "wow that was good if not awesome!”

So i find it is best to ride more often than not to get those extra 10-12 "gem" rides in a year.

How many rides do you do in one Winter ?

Wow i'm impresssed with the amount of rides some of you guys do, you guys are totally dedicated to riding. I guess i'm gonna have to suck it up and get out and ride more often. Don't get me wrong I love the sport of snowmobiling but sometimes work and family life doesn't permit me to go riding. On the off season me and guys break out our quads and we like to head to the sand dunes to ride. So my next question is how many guys ride the sand on the offseason ?
Thanks for the reply

every weekend, sometimes both days if its good.. and select choice (powdery) weekdays..
waiting to get my sled back from repairs in a couple weeks and looking to ride more weekdays since i'm on a winter work break so to speak..
hint hint weekday riding buddies ;)

Could debate its still "off season"

I'm still waiting to get my first ride on snow in. We have been riding moto almost every weekend for almost a year. I thought I'd mothball the bike a month ago but we have had some of the best rides of the fall in just the last two weeks. It's too bad it's been on sand and dirt instead of snow. I'm finding it difficult to choose what to ride. Marginal snow 1 1/2 hours away or moto out of my back door. Hope the snow pounds in as I love riding my sled but until then, tearing it up on the bike! Good topic.
