Like the title says. I'm just curious what this new 2013 is drawing from each of the other brands of sleds.
 
Little early still. No prices, no demo rides, no idea what motor changes are coming. As cool as all of that stuff is I will still be nervous if tomorrow Polaris says they have a new 165 hp motor. With the track record how is that going to hold up? Might have to stay on the 2012 and let Boondockers do some work! Cant wait for tomorrow and my demo a few weeks from now though.
 
I was gonna do that but I was trying to see how the 2013 model is doing as far as switching people over, even current Pro Ride owners. I'm sure the Pro Ride in its current form is a fantastic sled though. And to be honest, I don't think these changes should affect the handling characteristics, as compared to the 2011 and 2012 models, all that much. More weight savings and traction than anything. The rotating inertia of the belt drive, as compared to the chain drive, should be the biggest factor in how the sled handles, I'm thinking.

I'm really curious about this 2013 and defenitly leaning polaris' way. I think my kmod would also bolt right in.
 
Switching? Not a chance. It will take a lot more than a belt driven cmx system to beat the reliability of a factory turbo four banger. Ask yourself if you would take your sled by yourself and not worry about making it back because of engine failure.

For me? Four stroke, no way. Back surgery costs too much. :behindsofa:

Realy? i just put about 20 miles on my sled riding by myslef.Literaly just got back. Still have my snowpants on. I do it all the time. Been doing it since i was 16 and i have had to walk a few times but i still do it. I used to take 121" IQR race sleds into the back country and build jumps. Then it was my 800 IQR mod with hillclimbing. Now it's my stock assault with both. I can provide some helmet cam footage of a hill i doubt you could get your 4 stroke up without wrecking/flipping over backwards/getting stuck, that i climb on a regular bassis.

Looking to purchase a new one this year. As a Ski-doo faithful... i am seriously considering a Polaris, but waiting to see what Doo comes out with. I have ridden the PRO RMK and absolutely love the handling. The bar positioning seems a little weird coming from an XP but I could get used to it in a couple rides.

Would I go back deep into the mountains alone? No.

Because of engine failure? "Engine failure" could be replaced with electrical problems, stabbed track, snapped steering post, broken a-arm, two blown belts, my sled rolled into a ravine that I couldn't climb out of before dark, idlers got screwed up, rails bent out of shape, chain grenaded and took out my case and oil reservoir, why didn't I bring my SPOT, why didn't I bring my Satellite phone, and the list of possible issues goes on and on why a person shouldn't ride alone in the mountains.

20 miles wow. You had to walk back a few times? Hmmmm. You are a better rider than me; that's good. Back to riding school for me. Thanks for proving my point about engine reliability. I am not brand loyal but sure enjoy sledding back not walking or getting pulled back. The last two are a lot easier on gas I guess.

I'm switching....

I already have an '07 IQr, and I'm keeping my M7 (I love that sled), but the new PRO's are too good to pass up. I can't wait to see it sitting in my shop!
