how many kilometers are to many.

Hey guys, im buying a sled and i wanna know how many Kilometers are to many.

on a scale of 1 to 10 one being low low kilometers and ten being worn right out

Where would 1500km, 2000km, 2500km, 3000km and 3500km be.

worn out

That depends who rode and maintained it... I have seen guys absolutely trash a sled in under 500km.

Good question. Really depends on I think were the sled was rode. There is a big difference between if a sled is rode all mountains compare to low snow ditch/trail type of stuff. Mountain riding is easier on the chassis hard on engine, and trail/ditch riding is the other way around. If I was looking for a used sled I would look for low mile as possible, but i might buy the one with slightly more miles if it was in good shape.
So not a real answer but if a sled was in good shape and had 3500kms and was the right price I would go for it. Thats only 2174 miles for you US boys.

3500km with no rebuild,

See where i live most sleds are rode in the mountains.

Im really trying to find a sled with less that 2500km,

im looking for like a 00-03 summit 700 or 800, with a 144 or 151"

Does a 151 make a huge huge difference. I will be riding in the northern b.c "pine pass" but id be more of a boondocker.

Im 5"11 205lbs

I had a 02 summit 800 144 that broke a piston skirt at 4200 miles (6700 KMS) I wouldn't say there is not huge difference between 144 151 but there is some. I rode a 02 summit with 151 and that chassis did handle better with 144 but the 151 will do better in soft snow conditions. I think you are on the right track in what you say your looking for, but I wonder how many sleds in that vintage are around with that low of miles.:(

For your size a 144" or 151" I doubt you'd notice much of a difference. 3500km without a rebuild is getting close to needing one i'd say, could go another 1,000km easy but you never know. I had a 03 151" with 1500 miles, 2500km that still ran perfect and the chassis was still in great shape.

i just bought my current sled in february
had 3600 kms on er
2003.5 REV X 800 HO ...paid $6000
i put about 400 kms on it

i have re-built it top to bottom
so hopefully no worries for anothr couple years

try to get into the REV if your cash will allow it...there are alot of good deals out there right now

my 07 let loose at 4600km of hard riding, my dads is in need of a rebuild at just over 4000km. the lower the better but in my case i still have annother year of warrentee so i'll keep it until then.

too much?

I only wish I could get that many miles of riding per season... Hey, maybe I'm on to something; buy a sled from someone who lives nowhere near the mountains!:p

if a sled is used for flatlanding, then you can rack up the miles without really damaging it too much. I bought a rental Summit from a Yellowstone Tour Company and got almost 200 miles on it before the engine finally blew up. That is pretty good for a 2007 800R engine.
