how many btu heater do you use

how big of a heater do i need for my trailer. it is a 26 foot with out insulation. what works best. i am thinking of a ProCom blue flame heater with oxygen depletion sensor that is vent free.

I have a 30K BTU blue flame and it works wonders. My trailer doens't have any insulation either but the heater doesn't seem to care.

Have a 30,000 BTU blue flame heater in our trailer. The trailer doesnt have any insulation, all the heat is in the upper part of the trailer. The floor never gets dried off, it melts the big chunks but then freezes. I guess I just need to insulate the trailer.:rolleyes:

Personally i would go bigger than 30,000. If you want to run any more than 4 ducts, go at least 35,000. I have a 30,000 in my 19 footer and it works great but im only running 4 ducts, wish i could run 5 but then it will be running none stop. We put an Atwood 40,000 btu furnacein my buddys 27' insulated trailer and it rocks, 6 ducts and it heats up super quick, doesnt have long run times etc. For the extra $200 beans, step up for the 40,000. You wont be dissapointed !!

In mine i have 1 down to the floor near the front, 2 along the corner(wall/ceiling) that duct down over 2 clothes drying spots (hangers), then one that runs under my helmet/gloves/boots drying rack.

Darko, how did you run your duct work? Cieling/walls or did you do any underfloor?

If the old site is still up do a search for "Heat in my trailer" and you should see some pictures of the Dark One's trailer and his heating ducts.
Awesome set-up.

I just bought a 30,000 BTU blue flame heater for mine but I haven't installed it yet. If you have the money and batteries and generator, go with the forced air as it is a much drier heat.
If your poor like me a 30,000 blue flame will be plenty.

* The drying rack goes same height as the heater, i have it at the powdr coaters. It goes up high between the heater and the clothes hanging rack(skinny strip to the right)

Here's the battery and storage box, and i came up with a good way to store 4 can's of my race fuel. (I stole the rest of the idea;s from Fuji)

Some awesome ideas I think I'll be borrowing for my trailer :beer;

I have a 60,000 BTU in my 4 car garage with high ceilings, and on the lowest setting it heats up 750 square feet from 20 to 65 degrees in less than a half hour. 30K in a trailer sounds pretty adequate.

Swing into any aluminum shop with your measurements and have them bend it up. That only cost me 40 or 50 bucks. Its pre-powder coated white on one side with clear plastic so it doesnt scratch while bending or installing, once its in just peel her off.

I've made some wicked 2, 4, and 6 pack "beverage" holders out of .065" 6061 Alum if anyone is sick of people spilling there drinks after riding.

i am using 4000w electric

I am using 2 240v 2000w cadet heaters for 4000w total. This is slightly less than 14000btu. I haven't read the specs on efficency of most of the rv heaters, but I believe what your looking at with a 30000btu gas furnace is the input btu. Most likely they are probably not more than 60 to 70% efficent? So you are probably getting 20000btu at best delivered inside the trailer? For my 25 foot interstate allsport with no insulation and the standard wooden interior I can maintain about 55F above the outside air temperature. I calculated the heat loss on my trailer and then verified it and was pretty close and am overall pretty happy with the results. I use a 6000w continuous rated generator (12hp). With both heaters running full tilt and the lights on, the generator is at 68% capacity.(you generaly want the genset to run at about 80% capacity but I wanted a bit of cusion to maybe add a third 1000w heater and or a circulation fan + I have enough cushion to run small hand tools, tv set, etc. I bought the genset on closeout for 600 and the heaters, 40ft cord, electrical panel, breakers, lights, etc was another 400.

is one of those blue flame heaters similiar to a bottle top heater? It gives out a moist heat? So you would have water droplets dripping from the top of the ceiling if you left it on all night witha vent open?
