How long do you have to purchase the additional 2nd year of warranty?

My dealer is being very vague about how long I have to decide if I want the optional second year of warranty on a '10 M8 I just picked up. How long do I have to decide?

extended service contract (cat care) clarification

this clarification is applicable to Cat Care only. Cat Care is the only Arctic Cat endorsed service contract provider and what you would receive with a promotional warranty program from Arctic Cat. Arctic Cat normally offers 3 choices during the promotions you are seeing recently.

1. special financing + some rebate

2. 2 year warranty (standard warranty + 1 year cat care) + some rebate

3. all rebate

when dealers are trying to sell machines we generally advertise with all rebate. If you want the financing or warranty it will cost more because the rebate to the dealer will be less to pay for the cost of the financing or warranty.

The reason many of you are seeing some adding $200 and some $400 is cat is charging different depending on the current program and or model. Your dealer has to look at the current program and the correct model. The rebate reduction when I looked at programs on one model the other day for the financing was $400.00

now onto the other type of service contract.

Once you choose a sled and tell the dealer you want all rebate and the sled is sales registered with Arctic Cat the promotion option is bye bye. A 2 year service contract for a M8 which is also 1 year factory and 1 year cat care retails for $654.00. As with everything there is a dealer cost and a suggested retail price.

on any sled if there are at least 30 days remaining in the factory warranty or promotional cat care program additional protection may be purchased.

Can I purchase the extended Cat Care policy from any dealer?

yes you can purchase from any dealer. If your local dealer treats you fairly I would recommend purchasing from them. Cat Care (for stock snowmobiles) is a good product but takes time to handle properly when repairs are required.

Generally your dealer will be more willing to do extra work with Cat Care if needed if you purchased it from them. Also be aware Cat Care claims have a $50.00 deductible per occurrence.

Another thing to be aware of Cat Care is a mechanical breakdown service contract. They pay parts and Arctic Cat flat rate for breakdowns only. No diagnostic, no diminished performance, etc. etc.

When you are dealing with a dealer who says they can't cover certain things it could be someone who does not want to deal with it, or does not know whether it is covered. But it could also very well be a dealer who understands the program very well and is not willing to pay for uncovered repairs.

thanks,
Woody

I dont understand, when I bought my sled on 12-18-09 the current programs were special financing and 2 year warranty, since I paid cash I assumed that my warranty was for 2 years. btw it is a 2010 model. and now what I am reading here is that the 2 year warranty had to be purchased ? that wasn't my understanding when I purchased my sled.

I would have to go back and look at the December programs but I believe there were no options for 2010 models in December.

I believe you got the two year warranty automatically and the promotional financing would have been available as well if you desired it.

The 2010 models became eligible for the choices 1. 2. or 3. options when the rebates came out on them maybe in January.

Thanks,
Woody

i checked into this today. i bought a leftover '09 m1 in early dec /09 and have till end of nov/10 till my fac 1year war is up. but i can for like $1600 canadian get 4 extra years warranty at $0 deductable. an extra 1 year with no deduct was like $1000. seems like a lot for just one year.
