Got a 09 D8 with 3700 miles on it. I am rebuilding the top end as I was getting the familiar issue they are known for. Have ordered snow x pistons with a shim. Couldn't quite figure who's right. Lots of people say it's the fix, RK Tek says it's bull. Had to move quicky to get back on snow, went for it. Now the question is, how long do the cranks last on them D8s.
I am looking into acquiring head, PCV and dual egt to get a bit more. I already have pipe and reeds, looking into a lot of topics, I am aware it will require some new knowledge to be acquired along this venture. Reading on AV gas 100LL as well as it was suggested to me to run higher octane. I am going ahead with certain mods on the basis that I will be able to swap on a pro eventually some of the stuff. Also tempted by C3 sycro drive.
