2007 M1000
tell me about it.....this is the real reason i recently got an 2010 M8, no worry riding, the hood only comes up to add oil![]()
Hatchers, I just may take you up on this. I will pay you for your time. It ruined the gears also but a friend of mine had his DD blow up last year on his M8. He bought a used DD off an M1000 and replaced the gears. So he has M1000 gears that he is going to give me.
I wish I had a warrenty. It's a 2007 sled that I bought used last year. If I could afford a new sled with 0 miles I would. For the money that I spent on repairs this year I probably could have bought new.![]()
So is the DD fixed for 2010 or did I buy something I need to be constantly checking as well?
Just picked up a '10 M8 SP on Friday.
M1000 is geared higher than M8
gearing down can only be a good thing, not bad
utahedge - is this planetary gear the only thing that is bad on your sled?.....everything else inside the gearbox looks good?
If so, drop the DD off at my house and ill have rebuild for free, as i have way too many extra DD parts and have rebuilt this suspect gearbox before
im out of town until sat night, should be able to get to it early next week....it should only take an hour
What about warrenty? i thought this sled was new last year?
Thanks to every one for the offers. Hatchers, you are one of a kind. Truely a great guy.
I was looking closer at the planetary last night and noticed that there are several teeth missing on pretty much every gear. The hole thing is toast. I got ahold of black diamond and they have planetary gears for $180. That is better than arctic cats $350.
Thanks again for the offers.
Any one want to buy a 07 M1000 with a new top end and new diamond drive?![]()
I hate to bring up more bad news, but I hope you plan on replacing the bearings as well. Once a gear comes apart inside a DD, the bearings won't last long after. All the metal shards and shavings have gone thru the bearings and they may feel ok now, but they won't last long. I've had my share of problems with mine, so I'm just saying with experience also...![]()

I think you said you had found some gears (input and output) but if not I have a set of 60/60 AC stock gears out of an 08 M1000. If you need them let me know I'll send them to you and Hatchers. They are just taking up space in my shop.
