How Important is having a warranty to you?

I have an opportunity to upgrade to one of two sleds both Turbo 4 Strokes. I don't want to start a brand war so I will refer to them as sled A and B.

Sled A is a 2015 with all the goody's except for the track (2.6 Powerclaw). Engine has power upgrades and dialed in buy experts.

Sled B is a Stock 2017 with 4 years left on the warranty and 3 inch paddles. And is $2000 more.

What would you do.
 
I would buy a 2 stroke!!! Just kidding most of the 4 strokes seem to be bulletproof but need a turbo to boost the hp enough to handle the weight. If neither of the sleds are factory turbos then the warranty is gone anyway. To each their own on brand and 2 vs 4 stroke but I would worry about power to weight. I personally have modded my sleds to save weight or add hp and killed the warranty right out of the box. I may have been lucky but have not had any issues yet.
 
Option B. I would not ride a sled without a warranty. And 3" powerclaw destroys the 2.6 power claw in fluff pow. But thats how I feel on a 2 stroke. I would worry less about warranty issues with a 4-stroke motor. The rest of the chassis is what you have to worry about
 
If you have very little mechanical ability and rely on someone else to fix your sled, get a warranty. If you know your way around every aspect of a sled, then a warranty is a waste of money and should not even be a deciding factor. Just my opinion.
 
Warranty means ZERO to me. Techs at dealerships these days dont diagnose problems, they hook up the computer, get the codes, contact the warranty dept and wait to hear what parts to replace. Then you hope that the guy working on your sled doesnt break more stuff in the process.

If I could buy a new sled from the dealer and opt out of the warranty for a reduced price.... I would!
 
Last five sleds were modded before they even hit the snow....last four with turbos and tunnel dumps. I guess I haven't worried about voiding warranty.

I keptthis last machine stock just to have a reliable machine. I tried to warranty some plastics and vents that I didn't notice were messed up from before I picked it up. They still wouldn't warranty the parts. Warrantys a joke
 
If you're gonna have issues...

As with almost any mechanical item, if you're going to have issues, they will generally happen when the vehicle is fairly new, and any power adders will basically scrap your warranty anyway, and wear items aren't covered. If you are going to ride a stock sled with no mods whatsoever and are not mechanically inclined, warranty is a good idea for resale value. But if you're like me and can't leave anything stock and are good with wrenching, I wouldn't bother paying for additional warranty that is useless to you.
More importantly, if you do up the horsepower on any sled, be prepared for extra maintenance and accelerated wear on components, be it engine, clutches, final drive, etc. The old saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too" rings true here, and you have to pay to play.
 
Quads and sleds are something I try to purchase with a warranty. Just too many things that can go wrong that even if fixing yourself can cost a lot. My dealer is super good about fixing anything under waranty with no questions asked.
 
How reliable is the dealer that would be doing any repairs if needed? Personally I am not a big fan of extended warranty's. They are not offering the warranty to you to benefit you. They are offering it to you to benefit them. It's basically an insurance policy in my mind. If you have even the slightest doubt, go with B. $.02
 
Like these guys have said, it really depends on what your goal is for the sled, your ability/spare time you have to make your own repairs, and how you will use it. If it's the Yamaha engine stock turbo with warranty then I'd be more inclined to give that a chance as they've had great reviews. If it's the Cat Z1 a 240hp mod with drivetrain upgrades would be mandatory for me with my riding style and would throw warranty out the window. Sorry if I'm messing with the A & B convention :face-icon-small-dis.
 
Warranty means nothing to me I've lost all faith in dealerships in general now days and don't trust anybody working on my stuff If I have a problem either powers ports of my vehicles I fix it myself and eat the cost
