There is some heated debate on break in, just wanted to let you know how I did mine. After doing all the internet research(I know...) and talking to people I trust( I know...) this is how I decided to break in my Pro. I am more concerned with rings seating properly than anything else. I followed Motoman's instructions perfectly. Warm up the sled to operating temp of 125 F. Then make 4 pulls up to half throttle and let off the throttle, let the engine brake the sled down to a stop, 4 pulls to 3/4 throttle same way, 4 pulls to full throttle same way. I held the throttle steady for about 2 seconds at the top of each pull. According to him letting the engine slow down with the throttles closed is important because it builds a strong vacuum in the engine and sucks the small metal particles worn off the rings off the cylinder walls and blows them out the exhaust. The hard pulls on the throttle are there to put pressure on the rings to get them to seat. According to him there is a light cross hatch on the cylinder walls that lasts only a short time and is needed to wear the rings and get them to seat. For the rest of the day I rode it on and off throttle all the way to full but didn't really hammer it for long periods of time. Engine pulls really hard now, still in break in. Worse case scenario it seems that I DIDN'T hurt the motor in any way. Have never broken in a two stroke like this before. Used this method on 3 more sleds that weekend and they all seem to pull strong and have no damage too. Take it for what it's worth.
