How hard is it to change out a stator in an 04 800?

I have a no spark issue with my sled and am thinking it might be a stator. I have another 800 REV that spun crank bearings sitting around so I was just gunna swap out stators to start with. How hard is it to pull it out? Didnt look to fun as I just glanced at it. Any tricks?

I don't know of any tricks but I've only pulled mine when the engine has been removed from the chassis. The stator has 4 screws and is easy but you've got the flywheel to pull first. I've pulled the flywheel with an Autozone flywheel puller and not the stock puller. It was a bugger! It may be possible with the stock tool but its always easier to work out of the sled and on the shop bench.

It is tough without pulling the motor cause the wiring is really hard to get at where it exits out of the block. I did it but I bet you won't get the rubber plug back in. Also be very carefull as any slack left in the wires will cause the magneto to rub on the wires and cut through them. You will only notice a little miss at high rpms at first, Latter it won't start.

don ask how I found out.

It's worth getting the ski-doo puller if you choose to do it in the sled. It shouldn't take more than 45 minutes if you have that.

You won't get a harmonic balancer puller in there and although I can say I have got the rubber plug back in, it's such a pain in the @$$!!! I just refused to quit.
