how do you you guys summerize your sled

sta-bil in the gas in run the motor for a few minutes to make sure the sta-bil finds its way into the carbs. A few oz's of oil in each cylinder then pull the starter a couple of times. Most years I do not drain the fuel from the carbs. I even leave the belt on. I also do not fill the fuel tank for summerizing. Some guys fill the tank and then drain all fuel and use it in thier lawnmowers. I just put in a bottle of HEAT the very first time i fill the tank in the fall.

Sta-bil in whatever gas is left in it. Grease the poo out of the suspension. Put a 2x4 between the lugs of the track. Spray WD-40 in the cylinders, and DONT DRAIN THE CARBS! it will dry out all the little rubber pieces and it will leak gas and flood and youll be pizzd.

Grease the chassis, drain the gas but put 2 gal back in and add twice the amount of Stabil recomended, run the sled for 10 minutes to get the stabil in the carbs and fuel lines, check the chaincase for milky colored oil (indicates moisture in the chaincase), if so drain the chaincase now. Fog the motor down with some OMC (bombardier) fogging oil (comes in an aerosol can), I also like to spray some fogging oil down the spark plug holes , Look it over and make notes of any thing you need to fix or replace before next fall, slob some armorall on the seat, a little turtlewax platinum detailer on the hood and windshield and cover it up. Next fall all you have to do is fill it up with premium and you're ready to rip it up !

fuel stabilizer imo is the worst possible think you can use.... its fine if you put it in a jerry can for the summer lets say but dont put it in your sled for a long period of 2 months or more i use to do it but every fall had to clean the carbs one year said screw it not putting it in sled fired up right away ran like a top a bit smoky but its a 2 stroke running the old gas what do you expect.... they say to spray silcoin spray on your suspension so it doesnt rust up.... sledding aint done yet theres grass drags and water skipping all summer...:D.... yea i suppose in june my sled will get summerized i will put the cover on it....:beer;

I dunno man I been doin it this way for many years and haven't had to scrape any sludge out of a carb bowl since I started using stabil but I always had problems before. To each his own, just sharing my experiences !

yea i understand maybe its the brand of stabilizer or something cause i use to never be able to get the sled running in the fall carbs all gunked....:beer;

Never used sta-bil or any other product, just run the tank low or siphon out the fuel, I also pull up on the arm for the oil pump to get extra oil injected into the motor the last time I fire it up in the barn(where ever you park it).
Now I just snow check and trade my old 1 in, don't have to worry about it that way.

Simple - don't do any thing but start the sled on the first day of every month for 5-10 minutes. It keeps the carbs and engine in good shape (do it on a dry day- not a damp one), and you get to bond with the sled & re-live some good old memories, it's great !:D:beer;

I do the same except I add seafoam to the gas tank. Start every month and let it warm up good and give it a few rips while sitting on the sled stand. Never had a problem.

just wondering what some you do out there to keep your sleds for the summer.
I do not know of this "sum-mer" thing you speak of. :D
ride til June and then start road riding end of Oct beginning of Nov. I start it once a month in there to keep things lubed with a little extra oil in the gas.

Keep her in the garage and give her a hug once in a while, maybe a little wink and the gun, tell her she is looking good, a good bath and let her dry off naked in the sunshine, rub some polish on her, coat some bare parts with oil and make sure everything is well lubed.

Other than that, nothing.

This is the worst thing that can be done to the engine. The heating and cooling of the engine caused by running it and along with the humidity in the summer air will cause excessive condensation to build in the engine and promote rust, especially in the crank. Almost all of the Oem's and engine manufacturers do not recommend doing this, it is a BAD idea.

The best thing is to do is Fog the engine while it is running and let it sit until the sled is ready to ride again. Leave the fuel in the carbs but clean before the first ride. Siphon as much fule out of the tank as possible and add a little sea foam. Fill tank with fresh before first ride and grease thourghly. Mix 80-90 oil and parts cleaner 50-50 and spray on all parts that may rust or corrode over the summer.

probably not the best route, but I just wash and grease sled, drain tank down low, run sled with oil pump lever full open to oil things up (until I can't stand the smoke anymore), plug the exhaust hole, block up track on couple of 2x2's, cover it up in the garage to keep dust off and forget about it until next year.
