Grease the chassis, drain the gas but put 2 gal back in and add twice the amount of Stabil recomended, run the sled for 10 minutes to get the stabil in the carbs and fuel lines, check the chaincase for milky colored oil (indicates moisture in the chaincase), if so drain the chaincase now. Fog the motor down with some OMC (bombardier) fogging oil (comes in an aerosol can), I also like to spray some fogging oil down the spark plug holes , Look it over and make notes of any thing you need to fix or replace before next fall, slob some armorall on the seat, a little turtlewax platinum detailer on the hood and windshield and cover it up. Next fall all you have to do is fill it up with premium and you're ready to rip it up !
fuel stabilizer imo is the worst possible think you can use.... its fine if you put it in a jerry can for the summer lets say but dont put it in your sled for a long period of 2 months or more i use to do it but every fall had to clean the carbs one year said screw it not putting it in sled fired up right away ran like a top a bit smoky but its a 2 stroke running the old gas what do you expect.... they say to spray silcoin spray on your suspension so it doesnt rust up.... sledding aint done yet theres grass drags and water skipping all summer....... yea i suppose in june my sled will get summerized i will put the cover on it....
I dunno man I been doin it this way for many years and haven't had to scrape any sludge out of a carb bowl since I started using stabil but I always had problems before. To each his own, just sharing my experiences !
I do not know of this "sum-mer" thing you speak of.just wondering what some you do out there to keep your sleds for the summer.
Simple - don't do any thing but start the sled on the first day of every month for 5-10 minutes. It keeps the carbs and engine in good shape (do it on a dry day- not a damp one), and you get to bond with the sled & re-live some good old memories, it's great !
