How do you trail convert a snowmobile?

kind of depends on the brand and year. Most need a low compression head, better coolers. You probably will need a larger gas tank if you want to go very far. Also oil injection if you dont want to pre-mix.

probably a stupid question but, when you trail convert a sled does it run on premium gas or regular gas. If it runs on premium is there a way you can trail convert it to run on regular ?

I would never run a sled with less than premium. If you can afford the sport of snowmobiling you should pay the extra change for good gas.

For most stock sleds, the owners manual calls for regular 87. Your not gaining anything by putting premium in.

call up speedwerx..theyll answer all of your Q's. You'll need low comp heads and domes, sometimes 02 440 heads will work. You do not need to send in your cdi. you'll also have to reclutch, rejet, add larger coolers if you plan to run long distances, and also add a larger tank if you want to carry more than 4.7 gallons of gas. if u just want to save money on gas and dont rip the trails....you'll get by by just gettin the low comp head kit ($395 from speedwerx), reclutching, and rejetting. with this kit, i would run 92...not that much more than 87 and its cheaper than buring it down.

Does anyone know what you need to trail convert a snowmobile, and what would i cost ?

thanks

You gotta reward it for being good, and punish it for being bad, but after a while it'll mind ya. Sleep deprivation, and waterboarding works pretty well also. Just don't let it get a taste of the powder or you'll loose it forever.

keep in mind that your not going to lose hp, but you will lose some throttle response. your 440 wont have that snap anymore....so pretty much youll be losing the only thing that makes these things fun.
