In-Laws of U.S. Men's Volleyball Coach Stabbed in Beijing, 1 Dead

BEIJING — A Chinese man stabbed the in-laws of the U.S. Olympic men's volleyball coach, killing one and injuring the other while they visited a Beijing tourist site near the main venue where Olympic competitions began Saturday.

The victims were Todd and Barbara Bachman of Lakeville, Minn., parents of former Olympian Elisabeth Bachman, who is married to men's volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee. Bachman's father was killed.

The assailant also stabbed and injured a Chinese tour guide with the Americans. He then committed suicide by leaping from a 130-foot-high balcony of the ancient landmark the Americans were visiting, the 13th-century Drum Tower, the official Xinhua News

un Fing believable. at a time when the world is supposed to come together in peace and competition. Wack jobs just can't be stopped sometimes though. At least he took himself out afterward.

If he had done it here or in Europe and not offed himself, the tax payers would probably wind up supporting him for the rest of his life while he wasted the court systems time and money on appeals.

Add the ACLU (American Communist Lovers Unit) to that list. Maybe the attacker was abused as a child, or had Ritilin (sp) issues. :mad:

Todd Bachman was CEO of the almost 100 year old family owned chain of Bachman Nurseries in MN. Most are located in the Mpls/St.Paul metro area.
They are a high quality class act company.

Very bizzare tragedy.
