EGT's when throttle is held steady
I have found that 5800 rpm is the threshold when the EGT's start to get high. This is on carbed polaris motors (I have not rode a CFI with EGT's yet).
If it is necessary to hold the throttle steady (for example when towing out a dead sled) it is important to watch the water temp. My last 2 rides I have had to tow out CFI sleds with my '07 600 carb that was hitting 1470 degrees !! The plugs looked too gray but there was lots of powder for good cooling so I never melted down. When I could hold it BELOW 5800 RPM the EGT's never went above 1300.
