How do you know when your needs replaced?

x2

When I chipped a reed at the end of last year the sled would barely idle, It would run but had a terrible bottom end. If you held it wide open it would eventually clear out and run fine at WOT.
This was a 1/2" broken off of one of tips of one of the pedals.

I have a stock 13 800 pro. My sled was running ok and all of a sudden it felt like I dropped a cylinder. Mag side plug was definately darker than pto. Checked all the wiring, plugs etc. Limped it out and half way up the hill we had to come out of it would clean out and top end would run great. Only mag side were chipped but it's pretty obvious when they go but before was idling at 1500-1600. Sometimes would die when I tried to go into reverse. Dealer warrentied them and back riding again next weekend. Doesnt sound like it's been very common on the 13's so far so I can't explain why except maybe they were just faulty. Tps was a little out and dealer adjusted. IDK

Thanks everybody
Thats exactly what happened today.
Any ideas for replacement
Go stock?
V vorce?
Boosted sled of course

I say stock.

My group has 7 T pros. And two guys tried v force they lasted half as long as stock reeds, I'm putting new stock ones in mine this week.

Stock seem to be the best. You can double up the bottom reed to make them last longer but thats up to you. Set im running now is stock reeds doubled up on bottom with stock pedals. Next set im going stock reeds doubled up on bottom with Boyesen super sport pedals with about 3/4 cut off the tip to allow the tips to still flex more but give them more support as well.

Thanks everybody

I will recommend super stock reeds from Boyesen, just changing the petals and use your stock housing.. It's about 50$ each cylinder

My stock reeds were chippped and i replaced them before the last ride. It then idled great and i rode a bit. Now its barely idleing sounds like it did. Wondering if they are shot allready.

If you are having ceveral misfires the reeds petals will take damage.. Are you running stock reeds?
Carbon fiber is not recommended when you got turbo..

Took out my reed cages today. Here is how they look.
Going to put new stock reeds back in.
My Tech said that if I am running a little lean in the mid range it eats up reeds
And I have been a little lean in the mid range
I did fatten up the mid range a bit on my last ride but maybe to late
This weekend will tell but looks like I found my running problem

My reeds resemble the exact same thing... Sled bogged out like it blue up... How many hours do you get from a set of reeds

This is my first set, 600 miles boosted. About 1000 miles NA. Not intercooled. I was running around 5lbs. I am considering going with a intercooler but have talked to a few people including a intercooler manufacturer that said its not needed at 5lbs.
I thought it was big intake temps that hurt the reeds.
Was running a bit lean in the mid range so hoping fattening it up in the middle will get some more reed life.
There not cheap from Polaris, and it is a bit of a nasty job.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Boyesen super stock reed petals is working good for me.. They cost 50$ to each cylinder..

I've got a thousand miles on my original stock ones... replacing them in the next week or so. I really haven't noticed a big change but it does take two pulls every start and I have a bit of an erratic idle. I'll post some pics up when I get them out.

Silber turbo running 7 to 8 # 100 LL 982 miles stock reeds still no reed problems. It has never back fired, yet. I keep AFR's below 12.6. 15 rides on it and it has ran pretty flawless. Lost one oil pump. So far big smiles every ride.

The Cage is burnt.
I think what happens, is once the reed starts to go it backfires thru the intake and causes more damage.
Its like a burnt valve on a four stroke.
When I took it apart you could see the unspent fuel on that side.
