How do you get the chaincase out??? Do you have to pull the skid and remove the drive shaft? Manual says all you have to do is remove the gears and bolts but that is just bs cause its not working.

Also do you need the jackshaft installation tool to reinstall the shaft?? Polaris wants $184 for something that could fit in the palm of my hand?

Yup, you have to get the driveshaft out... and you CAN get the jackshaft back in without the tool if you are careful and patient... 2 sets of hand help. It sure makes it easier though.

Can you shed a little more light on what the tool actually does? What do you need to be careful about?

I don't own either of the two tools mentioned in the manual, but from my understanding:
Jackshaft installation tool... threads onto the end of the jackshaft, and protects the seal as you slide the jackshaft into the back of the chaincase.
Jackshaft alignment tool... is installed under the top sprocket nut to correctly align the bearing to the jackshaft before you torque down the chaincase bolts.

I got the job done without either tool, no problems. Maybe someone who owns and uses these tools will speak up.

Sounds like, as you stated before, if you are careful, everything should work out ok without them. Still would like some info from people that use them if there are any out there.
