how do I tighten the ft motor mount bolts-06 rmk 900

Here's the story.
Last night a freind brings his 06 900 rmk over- while checking everything over- discovered loose ft motor mount bolts.
I have looked at the service manual- checked the threads- I can not for the life of me- get a tool in there to tighten those 2 ft ones.

Whats the trick to this guys????:face-icon-small-fro

good luck man..lol..

you will have to either pull the engine out..or suspend it up high enough to get it out, by taking the rear motor mount bolts and the front cross member bolts out..and some (if not ALL) of the wiring

you wont be able to get in there otherwise..

stick some bnlue locktite on the bolts and torque to 40ftlbs MAX!

Guido- that is very tight in there,
I can almost get at from on top with a distributer wrench- but-MAN- what a angle.

Thanks for the advise.
I am going to build a wrench for that!!

If your getting movement in the front mounts I would be willing to bet that the front mounts are FUBAR. I could be wrong but I have never seen these bolts come loose, but I have replaced dozens of front mounts. I hope I am wrong.:face-icon-small-coo

I don't have near the expertise you do, but I definitely agree... If it was my sled personally, that would be reason enough to pull the motor and have a closer look at the situation.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do tho... not sure how you'd get a wrench in there....:face-icon-small-sho:beer;

Get ahold of Compfusion and pick up a set of his front mounts, they are the best bar none! Worth every penny! My stock mounts weren't bad, but just after looking at the two setups next to each other, I felt much better knowing that I had a good aftermarket mount in there! Plus Colin is an awesome guy! Best customer service period!

thanks for all the advise-it all helps.

UPDATE-I took the primary off and the SLP torque stop. it is tight but- you can get in there. looks like i have a broken bolt- just spins in there-won't grip the threads- so- gotta pull bad boy out-to get to it.

but heres my concern man...if the bolts came loose..then you have an issue...or you do now..

either you have busted front motor mount bolts and what you see thats loose is just the part that fell out, or if you just tighten them...your not really figuring why they came loose and you wont be able to check the motor mounts which i am sure are toast now....plus you need to get locktite on the bolts when you tighten them down..and you wont get 40ft-lbs from that angle..

its worth doing right...and you should be able to get the motor out, repaired and back in, in a few hours...and lots of beer!!

if you were closer man, i would help you knock it out..unless you have any plans to head this way??
