i am removing my track from my 2008 d7 and i have the chaincase cover removed with the chain sprockets and retaining clips i was told the back part of the chaincase should come of but will not how do i take it off and do the rest of the removal

hi..

Well first Do u Have # 24 Off Yet??

As you can see in the pic.. you need #24 off, Chain, out, gear out, Track LOOSE.. Rear Suspension OUT.. then the drive shaft slides to the #24 way out then back inside the tunnel..

Rear Suspension should be out!
#24 off.. Speedo Pickup
Chain case cover.
Guide
Chain
Both top and bottom Sprockets

Rubber Mallet May help...

Some one holding the track slack up.. in the tunnel.. Watching for pinched fingers!

Does this help??

It can be a pain in the a$$ but you shouldn't have to remove the chaincase itself. Just pull the bottom gear off and take off the speedo side like was said. Sometimes it helps to tip the sled on it's side so you don't have to lay on your back and work over your head.

Exactly, you don't need to take the chain case off, but loosening it did help me. Make sure you have the rear skid out, left side bolts out and have someone help you by "tweaking" the track back and forth. It is tight in the tunnel on the drive shaft. That is the key.
