How did you Change drivers?

I have a 03 edge and I'm changing to anti ratchet drivers. Did you guy's use a press or is their another way. I dont have a press so I'm hoping theirs another way. Any other pointers or tips are much appreciated. THANKS.

A press is really the only way to go. It is the only way to precisely space the drivers. I've seen guys try to use a vice, and go with the "hammer 'n beat it to death" method, but they always give up and find somebody with a press.....

man a press is the only way too go! I have not yet seen another way too install them that works worth a damn. And with anti-ratchets that hole in the middle of the drivers will be much smaller than O.D. of the drive shaft! I have a set of WPS drivers on my bench that measure a full 1/8" smaller than the shaft!:face-icon-small-sho

Thats what I was afraid of. I was wondering if any body has heated up the clog and cooled the shaft then slid it on? I'm guessing it's probably still to close of talerantces.

Just take it to any shop with a press, it shouldn't take them but a few minutes. Bring some cash, shops like when you pay in cash bc its under the table. Maybe mark on the shaft the spots you want the drivers pressed on to, make it easier on the guy pressing them on. I can't imagine doing that job with a BFH...

Before I bought my HF 12 ton press, I would take them to the local machine shop and for $10 they would change them out. I didn't like having to work around their schedule so I waited for the press to go on sale and picked one up for $99.

I now use the press to hold the secondary clutch when changing springs, straighten radius rods, etc. Good use of money in my mind.
