i rode my buddies m8 this weekend and man that front suspension is SMOOOOTH. can i put some longer shocks like zero pros and maybe a little longer radius rods on my edge to improve the suspension? mine has the stock ryde fx

It is AMAZING what a good set of shocks can do for any suspension. If you have the aluminum body rebuilable fx's, just have them rebuilt. They are a good shock. If they are the disposables, I would go to fox zero pro's. Alot of guys swear by the newer air shocks. For me, the trusty spring zero pro's are more reliable and work as good or better than alot of the new mouse traps, they are just less expensive, weigh a bit more, and don't have the bling factor that the air shocks do. Same goes for the shocks in your rear skid. It is a different animal with good fresh shocks in it.

They don't compared to some of the newer sleds, or the race sleds. However, the quality of travel can make a huge difference. There have been sleds with monster travel, that have failed terribly because of how poorly that they have used the available travel. Try a good fresh shock wether that be to rebuild what you have, or a set of new zero pro's. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
