The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want these
politicians spending
our tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective:

But a billion dollars ago was only 8 hours ago, at the rate our government is spending it.

So let's take a look at New Orleans:

is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS
To rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number...
What does it mean?

Interesting, why do you have to start collecting money for health care in 2010, but you don't get any health care until 2013. Hummmm, I guess they can say the program is solvent, at least until 2016. Nothing like starting off with 3 years of money in the bank, before you start spending any. I bet after 2016, the program won't be "in the black". How stupid do they really think people are?

If we could end the lobbying by the special interest groups and the donations they make, that would be a huge step forward in the right direction. But we all know that's not going to happen. Bribery, the only place it's legal is in D.C.

I know voters get it wrong some times, but even when they get it right it is only a matter of days before what was right becomes corrupt. Some how politics corrupts the best of people over night. Voters have no way to get it right anymore. We can vote in the best in the country and 15 minutes later they're corrupt.

We can't even get people to stay honest or true to their word in our city councils and school boards anymore.

Let's face it, you have to really want the job, or intend to profit from it, to take that job now. If I where to run, they'd do anything to find dirt on me, and when they came up clean, they'd just make it up.

I'll vote for whoever promises the less. Less control over the people, less laws, less taxes, less medaling in peoples lives, less government, less entitlement, less land closures.

More personal responsibility though.

I would consider a successful congress, one that didn't pass any new laws.

Heck put me in charge, you won't like what I do, but you can damn sure bet, I won't do it for bribes, or power. Just take America back to the constitution, and what Jefferson had intended.

I thought your messiah was going to fix it all with all of the foolish spending? Can you say term limits? That might be a step in the right direction to putting this career crook i mean politican garbage to rest. How much of the stimulus package made a positive effect upon your community? my.o2

When the structure of our government was outlined, we did not have any 'career politicians'. The concept was not thought of. People actually had a trade, or owned a business or a farm. People took time away from their financial endeavors to serve as a politician. They served us, rather than we serving them. When they had fulfilled what they perceived was their duty (to serve others), they left office, and returned to their trade/business.

Today, everyone wants a 'job', and a company that will 'take care of them'. We (as a culture) expect 'benefits', as something we are somehow entitled too. And then, most folks that work a job, somehow think that anyone who owns a business of their own is magically wealthy, and on EZ street. That couldn't be farther from the truth. A good chunk of self-employed folks don't have any of those 'benefits' that job folks feel so entitled to, because they can't afford it. When you own your own business, there ain't no 'paid vacation', or 'sick leave'. No workie, no money.

We need to teach our kids the true and accurate history of the founding principles of this country. And yes... God is part of that history.

the electoral college vote is......ever wonder about the coasts? look at the democratic population within 100 miles of either coast = extremely extremely democratic. the core of the US is much much more republican. so in my view
the republicans are the hard working supporting group and the democrats are the "suckers". I find the geography interesting.

when and if this Energy bill that will tax all CO emmissions and force natural gas as the energy producer in the country we will see ungodly increases in utilities (extemates fo from 3 to 5 times our current rates not % increase), I wonder if this is another democratic ploy to run the gas and electric so high that the people will beg the government to make it better.

What does this have to do with anything we are talking about? Nope, unemployment isn't bad, unless you are the one that doesn't have a job.

Term limits are the answer people think it is to be. Doesn't California have term limits? I don't think it changed much, if anything there. So what term limits are you talking about? Seems anything you would say would have no effect on BO, 1 term in the senate, 1st term in presidency. Maybe a 0 term limit?

I guess lots of the stimulus money. I know a couple of people that are directly benefiting from it. I also see on the construction signs around where I work, that some of the money came from that. The major 520 redo, some 405 work. Seems like quite a bit, I guess, considering what percentage has already been distributed out.. Not to forget the teacher jobs saved..

I don't get why you guys have such a hard time blaming yourselves for this mess. Typical American mentality, it wasn't me, it was "them". "They" are to blame, "they" did it.

We are in a republic democracy, we hold the cards. We just would rather not use them to our own advantage it seems.

It is not their job. Their job is to defend this country and to protect it, and to create a fair and open market structure for us to compete in.

Now look at where all the money is made, and where most of the tax money comes from. I believe it looks very similar to the above.

Big cities, high population densities = more government control
Small cities, lower population densities = less government control
