How are the 2010 Seats working out so far?

I haven't got a chance to ride on one yet but, I am somewhat interested in maybe buying one of the new 2010 seats.

How are they holding up in the field?

Is the foam saoking up water like some had feared?

Is the fabric stretching more than it should?

Is the storage compartment really waterproof?

How do you keep everything from bouncing around in such a huge storage area?

What's the verdict?

my wife loves her 2010 seat on her 09. the storage seems fairly waterproof. one nice
byproduct of the shape of the seat... attatching a skidoo jerry can fuel can is a great fit. just have to watch where the undertunnel side tubes are, to avoid drilling through them when riveting the retainer brackets in place. ski

I upgraded from a 2006 stock cat seat... have sat on bosses but never owned one.

I have about 300 miles on it and no issues with quality. I didn't think the seat was slippery like some people have claimed. Definately stickier than the old stock seat.

The initial quality was lacking in fit and finish, but for $240 to my door I was happy. The foam is a little firmer than I would like. Good for putting a knee into it for powder riding, but could be softer for when you pound the trail back down the mountain. I would like to try one 1-2 inches taller with a little softer foam.

I only carried a snow bungee in mine as I hate putting anything in those compartments as it gets beat to crap.

The only problem I had was with the sawed off back end. When I would switch my foot from side to side I would once in awhile place it on top of the tunnel behind the compartment rather than on the running board and my foot would slip off. Thinking about buting some old school running board traction strips on the corner of the tunnel.

I haven't got a lot of miles on mine yet, but impressed with it so far. I was concerned about stuff bouncing around in there as well, so I took the extra fleece I usually stuff in my avy pack and put that in there to take up some room. The fleece is a really big thick one so it kills quite a bit of space and keeps the harder objects from rubbing or bouncing off eachother. That along with a couple gatorades, couple bottles of water, saw, 30 feet of 3/8 nylon rope and couple carabeaners all pack in there really tight (with some encouragement). I was really impressed with the amount of stuff I crammed in there, anything I can stuff in there won't be on my back all day in the pack. Seemed to stay relatively dry, but by the end of a day's ride it was a little damp which was probably due to me opening it so much to grab stuff. Works ok for me.

Excellent upgrade from the stocker. Much more grippy than my 05 seat. Definately firm, which seems good as it isn't too firm. It might show wear quicker than my stock seat did. My seat is showing scuffing on front vertical plastic reinforcement bars. The rise in seat is perfect and feels much more comfortable than the lower rise boss seats. I haven't had water proofing issues with mine but don't typically store much in there anyway.

Excellent upgrade for sure and highly recommend! $240 shipped is the best price I've seen and was through Freeagent.

2010 seat

I like my new seat, pulled the 09 off and set it aside, Now after about 400 miles this season I wont be going back to the old seat style. I like the storage area, only complaint is my shovel is now too wide to fit in the new storage area. Its dry inside, and the zipper seems to work good even after riding in the powder all day. Snow does build up a lot now behind the seat. The height is really good makes it easy to transition from setting to standing.
For the price i think it would be hard to beat. RickM

Wow, those were some fast responses!

I would really like to ride a sled with one on it sometime.

It's good to hear you guys are still saying good things about the seats after the better part of a season.

So the only negatives I have seen are the seat can be a bit slippery, the fabric tends to show signs of wear fairly early, the ride is a bit firm and swapping from side to side can be a little different.

All in all, the seats sound like a big hit, especially for the money.

I think there is less wear on the seat,my boots don't even come close to rubbing the seat when switching from side to side, and the seat height is awsome.

No complainta from me!
Never have I seen any moisture inside, even when caught in the rain.
Not slippery like the old style seat!
Great transition from sitting to standing!
Plenty of storage.
And it looks awesome!
The seat is holding up great so far with about 1000 miles.

Forgot to mention. I see guys with back order problems and waiting for seats up to 3 months. I don't understand how this can be? These seats can be found on auction sites if you look! I had mine in 1 day and had my choice of black with the cat logo, black/orange with cat logo, back/orange with arctic cat logo, or black/green! Not sure what's available now but I'd look around on eBay for starters if you can't find one!

I have a 2010 LE Crossfire and one of the main reasons I bought it was the seat.

I came off of an Edge chassis Polaris which I had added their shorty seat to and it was the best thing in terms of comfort and off trail riding that I had ever done to that sled. Sat on the 2010 Crossfire at the snow show last spring and loved the seat right away.

I have about 300 miles on the sled now and have had no issues with the seat. My storage has been totally waterproof and the space in the trunk is awesome. Seat has shown no signs of wear yet despite (thanks to crappy snow) having done a lot of sit down riding so far this year.

So, for $240 from my pal Free Agent.

You just can't go wrong,huh?

Maybe I will do a blind taste test between the 09 Boss seat and the 2010 Cat seat? I bet neither one tastes very well though. :face-icon-small-dis

I hated mine. Took one ride with it on, got home and swapped it for my Boss that was on my 07.

Heres my complaints about it.
When I was jumping from side to side, I would catch my foot on the edge of the tunnell, where there isnt any seat. Not a real big deal, but when you think its the running board and your foot slips off- bad things can happen.
The looks! It just looks like some thing is missing! If Cat would have come strait down, instead of at that stupid inverted angle, or better yet, went back with that same angle it would look, and function 100 times better.
The storage was great, but mine was no where near water proof. One ride in great snow, then home sitting in the warm trailer, the condenstation took over and was dripping when I changed it out.
And who needs all that extra storage space anyway- extra stuff is extra weight! At least with a back back you can take it off and shave a few pounds if needed.
I just wasnt impressed with it. Way to much hype for nothing.

I like the new seats....but prefer my old one (stocker)...

The reason is; is that believe it or not, there are times when I'll unconsiously put a foot on the rear of the stock seat and push down on it for more leverage in certain 'off-angle' approches or climbs.

For instance say I want to do a 180* while side hilling, I simply put my rear foot on the rear seat, push down/pull and pin it at the same time, and SWOOSH! Just hop over to the other side real quick and now your going back the way you came.

I tried that with the new seats (forgot I had it on) and obviously slipped and started the roll. I almost made a whole lot of junk outta' my sled because of it. No 'yard sale' that day on the mountain luckly, but damn close!

The new seats are GREAT, don't get me wrong. However the older ones just fit my kind of 'Gangly Ridin'. :face-icon-small-hap

I too am on back order for a 10 seat....question are they easily switched over?
If so a guy could flip back and forth depending on what seat you want for that day. Say for example there was the off chance you wanted to bring the wife for quick ride......you just take 10 seat off tand throw the 09 seat on....take her out for 10 minutes or less and then switch seats out again after that!!
