How are the 08 M1000's?

I am thinking of getting one is that a good sled or would I be better off going for the M8?

No replacement for displacement! Very easy to remove weight from, and very easy to gain a lot of horsepower........

Not great stock, but with a few small mods they are great sleds.

Yep, they're really good. Easy to get better throttle response and shave weight.

whats the reason for getting a 08. the 09 is way better in stock form. Are you looking new or used. what kind of deal are you getting.

Wait a minute...what is way better on the '09? You get the powerclaw track which is admittedly the best out there. The '08 track though is hardly bad. You get two inboard wheels in back, a $30 upgrade for the 2008. You get the better bumper which can be added to the 2008 for $250. You get the electronic reverse but the '08 DD gears can be upgraded for not too much $$.

There are definately improvments but they want $9000+ for an '09 right now and you can find NEW '08s for $2000 less and a slightly used one even cheaper. I am leaning towards an '07 with 1000-1200 miles on it for around $5000-5500.

The sleds generally get better with age but at some point exceed the budgets of some of us. If I can find a used '08 for about $6000-6500 I will go for it, but $9000 isn't in my budget regardless of the changes.

My brother picked up a new 08 M1000 for $6500, I almost got in on the same deal but decided I did not want to spend that much. There are some nice used 07's on here for around $5K, I know the 07 had some motor problems but are most of those cured with the ECM flashes? Is there any other differences b/w the 07 and 08? Finally, what are the most common mods that you guys are all talking about? thanks

Tunnel, bumper, rails, two wheel, electric reverse, Power Claw, different motor mounts,


Tunnel $250 ish depends on which one I think its a little more than that.More like $370.
two wheel $30 or more
Power Claw $560 at its cheapest and it is the single best mod on any m series(way better than the challanger)
wouldn't worry about the rails
electric reverse can be done with 09 reflash, new helix $70, new style DD $900

I know money plays a role thats why I asked why a 08 but I would pay $8500 for a 09, (seen them sold for that) Over 6500 for a 08, never did see a 08 that ran the way I thought it should without mods.
well worth the $2000 more and you still have a warranty, if you did all this to a 08 AC could technically void the warranty.
