Housing market?

Im a foreman for a concrete outfit in Chicago area , our bread and butter for the last 15 years has been custom homes and let me just say this really blows. Theres like nothing new happening at all we only put in about 10 foundations this year , normally at about 50 buy now . Owners keep pushing us to do more but were just triing to get our 8 or so and try to make it last. Gonna be an early winter this year. I try selling as much as I can , but thats not my job the owners are supposed to do that . Hope things pick up soon , I hear all the commercial outfits are laying people off already , the year has just begun. Hows every one else doing?

It's going to be slow for a wile. Mt has been lucky not hit near as hard as some areas the snow is killing us this year. Not sure how long it's going to be slow a year two years who knows???

here in central mn the work slowed about last dec like normal for winter and it just never started up yet. boom just like that no work. we have only dug 3 basements this spring, on a normal yr 10 basements already in at this time. it sure seems like no one has money. we have 6-8 septic systems to put in from last year and the builders are saying hold off for a while.

Banks are not loaning people money!!! Thats the big prob. they are looking at realestate like its garbage. It's total BS. There are buyers out there, but not many people are getting loans. The word is out, and people are scared. either that or the appraisers are appraising way way way below value to save their azzes with the banks. Its gonna be another year or so, before things start doing alot better. I would just plan on this year being a hard year if your in this market like me. but next year will start to do better. We cant bottom out much more than we already have.

Seattle area really slowed down, but for years it's been nuts. Been doing some stuff in north central WA there is quite a bit of high end custom stuff esp. along the Columbia River.

I build upper end customs and do a lot of remodeling. The only reason I started building customs three years ago, was because everybody wanted a new house over the last few years with the economy and low interest rates. Well now it's turning just the opposite again, people are staying put and wanting to remodel the house their in, which tickles me pink. With my business being so established over the last 16yrs, I'm swamped with work watching the unastablished guys and the one's that do sh!tty work fall to the way side. My biggest problem is just trying to find some more good help, which I'm finally getting that part of it under control as well. This winter should be a gooood one!:D
