can someone tell me what the stock horse power is on a 2001 skidoo summit 700. I cant seem to find it anywhere, also was there any common problems with them. thanks

they had some cylinder cooling issues and ring pitting, some claim ring failure was due to one ring other than that awesome engine, i have seen some make over 5000 hard miles without a rebuild.

they will go forever, i just bought a 700 topend for my 600 HO bottom, the thing has 4k miles on it and the rings are pitted but she still runs good, a set of aftermarket double ringers and your golden.

aint making any huge power but they will keep chugging so thats why i got it as a backup sled.

700

122 was an accurate dyno at sea level. We put on 5500 miles and the top end was still OK, installed wiescos and we have anther 2k on it no problems.

Primary clutch will even go 6K before rebuild! Rear arm in skid will break after you jump it enough times, RR shock needs a stiffer spring or a works shock.

Most reliable ski doo we have had!

they have 120 hp. in 03 when they dropped the 700 they went to the 600ho and said that it had the same hp, but we have raced them a few times and the old 700 still has more pull than the 600ho. the 700 was a good engine. my dad in law has an 02 700 summit with 4500 miles and it runs like its new no problems ever.

Like everyone is saying the 700 have 120 hp. The 600 HO puts out 117 hp. The 700 seem to run forever, my brother is still running his 01 with 8000 miles and has no issues with the motor. He has had to replace simple things like recoil and spark plug wires etc. but has never touched the motor.

What made the 670x such A strong little motor. Ive got a 99 670x w/a 144x2 and a 2005 Summit X 144 Team clutch Boss seat ect... When those 2 sleds drag its pretty close.

How much did the old 99 670x make, if I remember it was about 125?

i dont know for sure the hp on the 99 670x summit, but i had one about five years ago and i'm not exageratting when i say i completly dusted my buddys 02 700summit across a lake. we ran em for a half a mile or so and i beat him by 6 to 8 sled links. absolutly not kidding. those 670's went like a bat out of h#LL. I'm sure it would have beat the 02 800 also.

97-98 670's were pushing 122-124 hp, the 98 summit X 670 and the 99 670HO's were closer to 130 hp, my son is still running our 98 summit 670, it will run 95-97 mph @ 6000 ft altitude with an 1 3/4 in track on hardpack, at 4500miles it has only lost 1 lb of compression since new @ 136# on each side. 670's are rpm sensitive, keep them at 7800 to 7900 rpm, when you go over 8000 the power drops off quickly. Our summit will run side by side with my 700 up to about 70 and then the 700 slowly pulls away, both are clutched and canned.

Pipes

We have two 700's we ride with and one has crank shop twins. The stocker runs away from the twin piped sled for what its worth.

The 01 summit 700 I am looking to buy has ported cylinders, twin pipes and a milled head. I started it and it sounds like a John Deere tractor on steroids :D. Can someone tell me what kind of jets are in it, are they the round or the hexagon type of jets. I will be picking it up this weekend.
