Never too early to plan 2014. Last 3 years we've gone to Cooke; however, there seems to be some enthusiasm to try another location and Island Park and West Yellowstone have been brought up as options. They both appear to meet the necessary formula of 'ride from your room', lodging, bars etc. I have no experience with this area. I would appreciate constructive feedback from people who are familiar with the riding /lodging and look at pros/cons of one area versus the other so we can start planning and re-ignite this into a big single ski event again.

I'll come if the name is officially changed to Horsefest. I swear I only saw maybe 10 hawks the entire weekend in Cooke City.

I hear Island Park has some great areas... but don't you have to hoof it about 20 miles down a trail to get there? I've never been and it's just the rumor I've heard... can anyone confirm this?

Also, I wouldn't mind it being in Canada if there is any support in areas like Cranbrook, New Denver, or Golden where we can ride from town (or a very short trailer ride).

Whats the name matter Rush? Hawks are awesome, they just take some time to learn. This event has been going on for some time, if it wasn't for all the hard work put in by a few Hawk riders over the years, would you guys have gotten together at all?
A lot of Hawk riders boycotted the event this year since it was held in the same spot for the last 3 years, Prior to that it had moved every year.
I hope it continues as a single ski event, call it whatever you like, The fact that like minded riders can get together and have a great time is what its all about.:face-icon-small-win

The name thing is just a funny jab at the Snowhawk guys.... but seriously there were like 10 Hawks there and over 30 Horses.

Ya I know, just riben back a bit, But I love both machines:lol:
Anyone that rides any single ski machine is good in my book.
I'm not sure if the party that started the entire event will continue on, They may be hoping for some new blood to step in and take over. That would be the op to really make this a world class event.

never been there but................

never been to hawkfest, but spent time every spring for the last 30 years going somewhere in march to sled in the sun.

Cooke is good for about 3 days then............thinking about going somewhere.
Been in Island Park for as long as 10 days a stretch...........rode something different every day.

Move it around, and an islandpark stop will be enjoyed by many. Easy to get to, good folks, depending where you stay, ride from your door to ? 15 years ago we rode 146 miles south from our Island park rented cabin and played along the way.
