Hood Straps on a Pro-Ride? And also need vent advise

I just bought a 2011 RMK 800 155" not the pro, but the standard one. I am wondering if anyone has ran extra hood straps on their Pro-Ride chassis and which ones you used? My past 3 sleds have all had extra hood straps on them and that has saved me numerous times when the hood meets snow in certain situations :dizzy:
Just wondering how the stock twist pins hold up in upside down situations.

I'm also having trouble deciding on a vent kit. I'm stuck between xxxmodrods 5 piece kit, the MoFlow 6 piece kit, or a set of side panel vents from 2cool. Thanks guys!

Hey Chad,
After extensive upside down testing :face-icon-small-dis I've not had a single hood problem.
I'm not a fan of the fasteners on the pro's, but have to admit that they worked good for me.

2 Cool Vents all the way!!!

Hood tie downs and pins

Like Bagger, I have also done extensive roll over testing. It's fastest and best way to get unstuck high on a hill by yourself. And I have had absolutely no issues with the hood pins. They look flimsy and awkward but they do work. The previous IQ's could have used additional hood straps but the Pro's do not need them at all.

As for vents, again, I don't run vents and have not had any issues with excessive belt or clutch heat or degrading performance after repeated runs. You can go without vents for a few months and decide for yourself.

These Pro's work excellent right out of the box with no mods.:face-icon-small-hap

I can vouch for bagger he is definitely a tester for the durablity of the pro.
I am also looking at venting and am leaning toward the modrods I like the idea of the plastic frames over aluminum. Has anyone broken a plastic frame yet?
Hey bagger hows the shoulder?

I like the amount of vents you get with the modrods kit and the moflo kit. I've also read that guys like the plastic frames vs. The aluminum frames because the aluminum frames ice up. All the kits I'm considering are the plastic frames

as far as the hood straps go dont worry about it. I unknowingly ran mine for half a day with out them latched just the rubber one and no issues. for the vents 2 cool is the only way to go. best quality IMO but i have ran with every other brand and they seem to hold up the best

Exactly! Up to this point, I have seen no need whatsoever in spending extra money on vents. I don't have any (except stock ones) on mine and after nearly 800 miles, mostly deep powder, my belt looks great! Besides, when riding with other guys whos sleds are all "vented up", I found it interesting that theirs still plugged with powder.....just like mine :). The only difference i could see was their wallet was lighter :)

My suggestion? Just add gas and oil, and run it. Best "out of the box" sled on the market!!

Cheers

Stock hood stuff is good. here's my vent kit, just removed the cover.

So just got a Pro and yeah I don't really see any others with add'l straps.
I've had it downside up a few times and no issues, but.........
What about in a barrel roll? All of my previuos sleds have been fine tipping or rolling them out of a stuck, but if you yardsale coming down a hill do the OE hood fasteners keep everything together?

Fire and Ice makes a hood hold down strap kit. I have 1 that Paul at F & I threw in when I bought his full carbon vent kit for my pro. I havent put it on yet and maybe never will but I have it in case I ever need too. It looks like a nice kit though.

Only one panel came off during that, hood stayed on it seemed.
seems like it takes a bit to get things flying off this sled.

Okay.......haha wow!
Guess I don't need to drop the $20 on hood straps. Figured a roll lime that would have been a major yard sale!
Thanks for the entertainment and confidence in the panel fasteners!
