Hood Repair

Anyone willing to share what you have used to repair cracks in the hood? Hit a tree yesterday and did some damage to the front of the hood. Destroyed my Skinz bumper (thankful I replaced the stocker with this bumper) Taking apart sled right now and inspecting for further damage. Just looking superficially...it appear a new bumper and cracked hood is the extent.

I'd appreciate some ideas that aren't super expensive.

X2 :face-icon-small-ton Zip ties!

I've tried a few different things and nothing seems to work for me so good luck I'll be interested to see if anyone comes up with something that works other than zip ties.

Drill a small hole at the very end of the crack to keep it from spreading any further.

Q Bond

Q Bond is amazing!
I do a lot of plastic repair on cars and sleds, have been plastic welding as part of my trade since i started, but last year i found a product that is better then anything i've used. It's called Q Bond. Stuff is amazing. Even Aluminum to Carbon Fiber. I have a Carbon Fiber fuel tank, and last year the gas tank filler cap bung popped out when i was pulling the nozzle out from filling it. After having an anxiety attack cause we were on our way riding, i ran home, got out the Q Bond, cleaned up the area and applied this stuff, and was ready to go in 10 mins.(normally i would use urethane) To pull that bung out now would take some force and would likely pull some cf with it. Also works great on hoods etc. broken into multiple pieces. I carry a small kit in my pack for trailside repairs. Remember, don't get it on your skin. Costs about 40 bucks for a large kit that will do a pile of repairs.

This is an old post. Sounds better than zip ties.

SpringCreek,

Thanks for the advice, I ordered some off of Amazon for $14. I was able to find a smaller quantity.

I hope it work, if not....zip tie it is!
