I would like to know how turbo's are working out on M1000's. I was all set to get one for my 07 and ran into a dealer that told me that the M1000's just didnt seem to work that good. He went on to say that the M8 worked incredible. I hate to sell my sled. I've got it set up the way I like it. Any thoughts???:rain:

I know if I call twisted they are gonna tell me that their system works great. I've called almost every manufacturer of turbo systems and they all say that their system works really good. However I've had a few guys that do installs who dont want to be named say that the 1000 just isn't quite their yet as far as fuel mapping and reliability goes. I really dont want to shell out 6 or 7 grand and spend my day throwing a brush fit in the mountains.

Twisted Turbos Race Gas Extreme Kit for the M1000 works as advertised. If this kit is installed correctly on your sled you will be a satisfied customer. Budd

I run 2009 m1000 turbo they work just fine [ install is the key!!!] to a good running turbo sled . No matter who's kit. The m1000 will need more repairs in a season ie motor mounts and reeds .

It runs good on pump gas as long as you have good pump gas, that is getting a little hard to find these days. The advantage you have with the race gas kit is you can run good pump gas, av gas, or race fuel. We ran 1500 miles last winter @ 7 pounds with av gas. The only issues we had were two 02 probs got leaded up. The sled ran good every time out. Budd

I ran 1500 miles with a pump gas 07 M1000, it had a twisted kit on it with the dual injectors, it was incredible!

its no secret the boosted m8 has far less issues....all that aside, do what you want to do, and the belt issue is the bigger reason folks sell a boosted 1000 and go 800...also understand the 1000 is a gorilla over the 800

and the crank issue has nothing to do with boost, the 1000 is what it is, so go quicker then others...and so dont eat a crank

I am not a vendor, I have built a few kit here and there and I never have seen any 2-stroke wake up on low boost like the m1000 does. Seems thay are a little harder to keep in tune and that is were the problems start but if you have a good understanding on tuning a boosted m1000 fricken moves.

A while back there where some saying you can't do a pg on a m1000, Shain already had one.

I ride with several 8's and 10's. A properly set up ten thrashes the 8's. One of the 8's I ride with can't keep belts on, two of the 10's I have never seen touch their belt on a ride. I have seen two pg 1000's with a gallon of rg for safety outdo a rg m-8. But I have also seen a rg 8 thump a pg 10.

It's all in setup.

I have a Boondocker 2008 M1000 race gas, 12 lbs. Started pretty rough with cylinder clearance issues. Once I figured out cylinder clearance issues and it was tuned properly, the sled runs great. I still need to work on low end settings.

I do have to keep the belts cool. My biggest issue has been bolts/screws on the helix. I install properly and they always seem to brake. The helix currently has screws from my hardware store and they have lasted longer than stock, 300-400 miles.

Setup, Setup, Setup....very important on the M1000. You can be farther off on the 8 and still run good, whereas the 1000 likes to be right on. I mess with my controller on the 1000 where you don't on the 8.

I run a bit of race gas on my 1000 no matter what boost I am running. At 5-8 lbs of boost the 1000 absolutely rips! It is safe, and when setup right she rips!

As of today, if you are doing a 1000 kit, get a Twisted Kit. Get it set up right, and smile.

m1000 turbo

I ran and areo 66 on m1000 7-9 pounds av gas first turbo sled owned had jeff at dakota performence help me set it up work great. If i go back to boosted sled will be m1000 night day diff from m8 to m1000.

I have an 09 M1000 with a pumpgas OVS aerocharger 66 series. It runs absoloutely flawless. I did the install myself. It wasn't bad at all. I have the recommended clutching per OVS as well. My biggest regret has been not buying a racegas kit. I have over 5500.00 in my aerocharger kit wich is limited to 10-12 lbs depending on elevation. I would need dual injectors and some other parts to the tune of about 1800.00 more in order to run over 6-7 lbs. of boost. No hesitations, sputters, or loading up of any kind. 5500.00+1800.00 is pricey to only be able to run 10-12 lbs.

I have alot of miles on the back bumper of a Twisted M1 , they run day in day out. The 8 is more suited to my old lady or the nephew now days.

If your 07 has stock porting you are good to go , the M1 on pump gas will destroy a race gas 8.

:face-icon-small-tonThanks for the input. I ran across a 2010- M1000 Boondocker RTR at the snowshow and bought it. I hope it works out.
