Honda concept snowmobile

Yeah ditch the electric motor crap, put a couple CR500 motors together with updated technology in them for a 1-liter, ditch the wings on the skis, drop as much weight as possible and price it to sell.

Yup, that summarize it pretty well!:face-icon-small-hap

The electric power would only work in a trail setting. Open track is not only dangerous it would cover the ride's back in snow. Not sure about the curved edges on the track.

all that plus make it a single ski.. Now you have something really cool..

Wow, that's pretty cool.

Didn't care for the music though. LOL

In theory, that curved track would aide in carving, but not sure if it would work in the real world.

Reverse Engineered Swingarm

Didn't anyone but me notice the reverse action on the rear suspension shocks. Pull out rather than push in. When the suspension is at full travel the shocks are sticking way down. I can see casing a hard jump and digging those arms into, oh I don't know ice, stumps ROCKS!!! Man you hit anything with those plow points sticking down and you rid is going to come to a serious halt RIGHT NOW.

Check out the video at 1:00. Tell me that thing isn't going to leave a serious rut through the whoops let alone off of a drop.

Those wing thingys on the spindles are pretty gay.

That background music was really gay.

Rechargable batteries.....while the concept is trendy, the reality of it at this point is still gay.
In 20 years it may be practical, but now, set phazers to stun Spock because it's gay.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but those damned wings are as gay as a boner at a football game.

Otherwise it's pretty sweet!

I sincerity you run out of "fuel" do you need a diesel generator to charge it in the middle of nowhere?
On top gear they had a electric sports car that was supposed to go over 200 miles between charges but as they rodded on it it only went 45 miles. So one can never tell the range.

Lithium ion batteries suck in cold weather. Have you ever tried using your drill in -5 Celsius...ya barely works and runs out quick. When battery technologies get better then i would be more set on this idea but until then i will keep riding my gas burner.

i have been riding the prototype for 14 months now..40 below and 18 hr battery life at average 80 percent max track speed draw for 12 of those hours (lake travel 65 mph).
Recharge 3 hours at 110 / 10 amp draw. 36 hr battery life at 15 below and warmer.
You will never lack for power and two spare cells (14 lbs for both)is enough to get you out of almost anywhere,no different then spare gas.

This unit does everything and more then my m8 with the bigbore and has all the benefits of a turbo without the turbo, although the next generation which i will have in 10 days has the 24 volt motor capable of 48 volt 40 second draw..(electric boost).
Anymore details at this point breaks my confidentiality agreement with Honda but i will have a full disclosure Dec 12 of the second generation and full production of the estimated 312 gross lb unit will be commencing January 2..
The only reason i have been lucky enough to be part of this project is because of my living in a very remote area condusive to testing and my previous connection to Honda with testing their deepwater two person submarine...cheers...later

I've heard rumors that honda was going to start making sleds for years and years and it never became reality, so I doubt this will also. My dad had a honda dealership when I was still crying in the crib and he said he saw pictures of a honda prototype sled back then, and that's all it is, pictures and now with technology some videos with some gay music in the background. I'll believe it when I can physically touch one (but not in a gay way :face-icon-small-con).

Only a concepts sled.

I don't believe that this concept sled will anything more than an animation on YouTube, but it's still cool with some new thinking.

Wow all the haters on here......

Must have all gotten new Pros and you are mad cause this sled will get the highmark on a 70 degree slope with 4' of pow. Not to mention how amazing it is in the trees, climbs up and over wells, slices tight spots so well you would think the trees moved for ya.

Yep typical SW jealousy bash. Hate on what is better and you can't have.

My honda dealer has connections to the research and development division. He tells me this is in the final stages of testing, and approaching production. The biggest hurdle is the EPA approval process. If a battery breaks it could cause bad things to happen.
