Homemade ski mounts/saddles

Has anyone made their own mounts for aftermarket skis?

I just bought a set of used slp mohawks. Didn't come with mounts, slp wants $90 for a set of wimpy looking saddles. Plus rubbers!

I'm thinking.... an aluminum saddle mount with steel bushing inserts for the pivot bolt and hopefully re-use the stock rubbers!

It can be done diy but use steel the aluminum will fail. But you still need the rubbers for 17.35 a piece and if you dont powder coat your homade ones it'll look pretty brown after a short while so there's another fifty bux . so dang your almost back to the price of the right ones
