Well, in typical fashion, we had an EPIC day for our last day of the year!

We had a beautiful day till we reached the truck
we had good snow
we had a good lunch
we found a cool lake at about 12,100 feet
we then tested that lake to see how deep it was...

Yep, an interesting day!!

it started out kinda normal...

and then...

...it all went wrong

A buddy of mine said last year that this pond was only 12" deep, yeah, not really.

and then it finally came out, with about 200 extra lbs of water & slush still inside it.

Well, we made it back to the trailer WITH all the sleds, some wetter than others!!

What a way to end the season!!

Anybody want to go ride NEXT sat?!?!?

We drug it out, didn't want to take the chance of messing anything up, it sat for about 20 minutes till we got the motor above the water line.

When we got it out it was literally completely full of slush everywhere that there was open space in the motor compartment, that would have probably messed with the electronics. (and holy crap did that make it heavier than heck even after we got as much as we could out of it)

Dave said he was going to bring it home, change the oil, pull the plugs & get the water out & run it for a while before he lets it sit to get the last bits of water out so there is minimal corrosion.

Holy Crap!

Kaleb, Is that the same crossing we did on Saturday?
That makes for a wet day, at least is was a downhill ride back.
How was the snow on Sunday?
-l-

Yeah, same one.

It was a bit deeper than we thought huh?

Snow was a bit more consistent, seemed more predictable. Maybe the sun being out all day helped.

Thank god the sun was out when we were pulling out the sled!!
It started hailing really hard right as we were walkng to the truck, imagine being in a freezing cold lake getting hailed on, glad we didn't have to deal with that!

I just hope his sled is ok after a thorough going over.

Not as bad as expected

Pulled the plugs and turned the motor over, no water in the cylinders, drained the rest of the fluids and had some water in the chain case. I'm going to drop the oil pan, pull all the connectors and fill w/ dielectric grease. Should be running by Wednesday.
Are you ridin this weekend?

Sounds like you guys got pretty lucky.
Now just got to get her ready for Granby Lake this summer. :P
K, give me a shout if your heading up this weekend.

Dave,

Was that Day 1 on the Nytro? Great way to break in your shiny new tunnel. :beer;

I think we're done for the year, if I'm gonna be worth a crap racing downhill, I need to get on my bike eventually!

Of course, we'll need to get at least ONE June ride in...

Trace, Dave made that himself. The quality/ finish is really nice & the boards are the stiffest I've seen on a Nytro, if he decides to sell them I'm guessing he'll have no problems with buyers. He built the whole tunnel hiimself, it's pretty badass!

Dave, good to hear, hopefully she cranks right up!

Actually, we kept getting closer to the edge before gunning it to get the sleds to stand up, what it looked like to me was his skis fell through the slush a bit right before he hit the gas, this looks to be what did him in, he had a downward angle as he started & just couldn't recover from that.

Of course, yeah, the extra 500 lbs (my approximate measurement:D) in the front of that nytro probably didn't help either...

WOW that looks as bad as what happens when riding with DenverR1 :D

J/K always nice to get a good rip in...

Traveler, Happy to hear you guys got it outta there and it's going to be running again soon.

I heard it's supposed to snow up top tonight!
