I just put a PERC kit on my sled yesterday and I want to make sure it works but now I noticed that my sled has a hole in the y-pipe about 3/8" long by 1/8" tall, right where one of the spring hooks is supposed to be. I found the spring hook though. My question is, can I start the sled, let it warm up for a few minutes to get the motor warm so I can try out my PERC to make sure it works or am I asking for trouble with the hole in the y-pipe?

I don't have anywhere to get it welded today and I work away from home during the week and I want to make sure my PERC works before we leave to go on our trip Friday night.

Unbeknownst to me, my XLT came to me with a 1/2" hole in the center exhaust pipe (it's running triple SLP pipes) and the guy had run it that way for a couple of years with no damage. I think you'll be fine running it for a bit, but do get it fixed as soon as you can.

You can run it but your going to lose back pressure which means your going to lose horse power. You can probably get it welded for $10

I just wanted to run it to test the PERC. I started it up, let her warm up for a couple minutes and the PERC does work. My brother is going to weld it up for me sometime this week before our weekend trip.

Thanks guys.

run it and you will be fine, you will not hurt anything letting it warm up and using perc.

Found a crack in my Y pipe and thought it wasnt going to do anything. 2 hours later the motor seized. I just threw the whole sled away at that point because im pretty sure it was the worst sled ever made

I'm not sure if my SLP y-pipe is a lemon or if it's just bad luck. This is the 2nd time I've had one of the spring hook welds separate from the y-pipe and leave a hole where it used to be. I'm going to have my brother put welds on all of the spring hooks and I'm starting to wonder if I should have him do the same to the pipe?

This is not a bash against SLP, I've had great results with their products and will continue to order stuff from them. I just received some new parts in the mail from them actually.

Anybody else had any problems like this with their SLP y-pipes?
