HMK Pants.....HELP!!!

SO, My 08 Klim Freeride pants are getting to tight (Im a growing 14 year old boy) and they are also starting to get wet in the butt. I loved my Klim's when they fit any they were dry, but the new 09's are $340!

My Question is, Who has either the Ascent pant or the Stealth pant from HMK? Wich one is better for staying dry? Thats my biggest concern.
SO...Will either one keep me COMPLETELY dry?
Im not worried about the warmth part becasue I have some real good under layers that are real toasty! ;)

Thanks
Jay :beer;

If you're getting wet with your Klim pants give them a call. They will give you the information you need to send them back so they can check them over.
If they find there is a problem w/leakage they will replace them with a new pair in the size you need.

I had the stealth pants.. bought them on the net.. and they didnt fit good at all but they were completly dry the couple days i wore them.. :D

What he said, worst case, they will give you new ones to sell and you can buy the ones you need.

Now that I think about it, if they swap you a larger size, I'd be very suprised. I sent in some Klimate gloves for warranty and they refused to change them out for the tog gloves. If they had great cust. service, they would have let me pay the difference and get the togs. So I'm still pizzed about that one. BTW anybody want a large pair of klimate's? NIB $50 shipped

HMK has great products and they are the only boot worth buying but look into the FXR backshift pants. They are the best pants i have ever used bar none. My friend Ryan uses HMK pants and said they weren't very waterproof and on the cold days they didn't insulate enough.

Warm, water proof, reinforced on your but and knees, huge pockets, if you have a FXR jacket they clip together, fit well and very adjustable, look great, great customer service, removable shoulder straps, and not bad on the price either. I got mine for $170 and they are the warmest pants I have ever owned. I was outside today for a god two hours working at -17 below and not once did my legs get cold.

I hate Klim with a passion and will never own another klim product. They are plane, ordinary, threads are week and I had very poor customer service. Also with the kind of price klim charges, they’re jackets should come with a little Chinese kid to wipe your nose and a$$ for you.

Honestly, FXR is the bomb and they have a gazillion colors so you can be dressed unequally.

search out Fbombs reviews of HMK from last year. HE loved the stuff, it will be interesting to see how it works this year if he has the same gear.

YEP I put the HMK Stealth jacket and pants through more rides and hours in the snow than 99% of the snowmobile world would in a season and they are still perfect and ready to rock again this year. NO RESERVATIONS ABOUT THIS APPAREL AT ALL! I give this apparel my full endorsement.

This season we are also trying out the all new 09 men's HMK Ascent pants and the all new 09 HMK Tech Hoody to go with the HMK Stealth gear. The HMK Ascents are a more dense coarse fabric then the HMK Stealth. They remind me in fit, feel, and appearance to my Klim Freeride pants from 2 years ago. Anxious to report on them as soon as viable testing is complete.

As far as your buddy getting cold he obviously removed the liners. My personal experience was that I never got cold or wet from rain on Memorial Day to extreme cold of the dead of winter. I took the liners out and never used them once. I also don't wear long johns or under layers at all.

I believe he had the Gambler pants and he REALY didn’t like them. Im not trying to bash HMK, everything I have bought has been amazing but I can’t promote something I know nothing about let alone something I heard bad things about. Like I said, I have used FXR clothing for 2 years now and the pants are flat out amazing. Won’t own a different brand, no problems what so ever.

I am considering the HMK Back Country pack, Probe, and Shovel Saw. Does anyone have any opinions on these? Rob, what gloves do you use for the cold wet days when it is snowing and -10 ?

I tried my FXR racing gloves out today for about 2 hours outside. After about 20 min at -17 my hands were so cold i had to jump in the truck and warm them up. Granted they are thin for a reason and weren’t designed for extreme cold.

I haven't tried the Gambler pants so I can't comment on those. I would assume they were very similar in build and design to the Stealth but don't know for certain.

I have used a ton of packs but the two best were the HMK backcountry and the True North Adventure. The HMK pack is better for shovel probe storage but the TNA pack seemed bigger and more open for stuff. They both fit and ride great so a toss up there. I guess my favorite is the HMK simply because of the shovel access as the rest is a toss up. I'm obviously a bit bias towards HMK too!:D

Gloves wise I might not be your best coach since my hands don't seem to get cold at all. I wear HMK factory team gloves for light aggressive fit feel and performance. I also have some heavier HMK gloves for when there is massive unsticking or standing around'ness. My other favorites are once again the TNA storms (they are great gloves if you don't mind thicker ones). They are an excellent glove but just like anything over a light performance glove I can't feel the throttle and brake so I don't like to aggressively ride them. I kind of like to haul the mail so even on the trail I can't enjoy the heavier gloves. The big secret is keeping dry and then having hand guards with good heaters (windchill is the killer). After getting stuck or helping getting someone unstuck your hands are almost always wet. I keep three or four pairs on hand to rotate through. More sticks then that and we kill you and leave you for the wolves!
