HMK Gambler Gear

tried to search this out w no real luck

who's running this gear and can you give ur thoughts on it plz?
I am into more of the Freeride look than traditional gear (such as KLIM)
I refuse to buy a KLIM jacket or pants - their casual jackets etc are ok

But I feel like im wearing a carboard box in it

so.....please don't reccomend KLIM or any other brand

just lookin for some reviews on the Gambler gear

thanks y'all!

PS - also best place to get it
I have seen some good deals on ebay right now - $200USD (pants) and $280USD (jacket) w free shipping to Canada
any dealers here that can match that price or shed some light?

I have a pair of the gambler. Overall I like the pants. They fit well and IMO look much better than most the other sled pants available. I did have a problem with the crotch ripping out on my first pair. I sent them back and they immediately sent me out another pair. One ride and they ripped again exact same spot. Instead of wasting money on shipping again, I had my mother in law sew them up so I knew I wouldn't have a problem with the crotch again. I was on the phone with HMK asking some questions about another product prior to buying and told the guy about my second problem and he said last year there was a problem with the material in the crotch area and it was fixed for this year. Water proofing is decent and what I expected from a $250 pant. If they have really fixed the crotch problem as they said they have then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

the gambler is favorite looking gear from hmk but i did not buy because its not cordura. its pretty much just like a snowboarding suit and i had problems making them last. it looks great but don;t expect durability, not because of poor product but the material is jut not durable for sledding like the cordura suits are. great and warm most likely but if you ride lots i'd say you'll maybe get 2 seasons out of it before it falls apart.

I am not a fan or cordura material
although it may be more durable, i hate the way it looks and feels on

i had the ascent pants, but sold them as they felt too bulky
I like that the Gambler gear is designed more like snowboard gear
except snowboard gear is priced quite a bit cheaper

the jacket retails here for like $425CDN or something silly like that

but they are 15k waterproofing and 10k breathability

I dont think cordura has the ability to breathe as well
I know GORETEX is another story, but like i mentioned, i refuse to buy KLIM jacket or pants

thanks for your review though....got me thinking now though
2 reviews so far and both of you comment on the durability (or lack of)

i ordered the ascent jacket and pants in hopes of durability and cost, cheaper than my regular snowboard gear and got tired of my nice and expensive boarding gear ripping and fraying after a season,

I have 2 pair of the Gambler pants and love them. On the warmer days your azz might get a bit damp but other than that they are great. I also found the Klim stuff a bit too stiff. It is a great product, just not great to move around in.

Just a heads up. Free shipping does not mean "no duty". They are two different things and the Gov of Canada will get there money.

I have the Gambler jacket - wore it for the first time up in Revy - I stayed dry, and warm. I like that it is lightweight, is longer than my Klim jacket, and has a hood. Mine do not have hand gators, which is a down-side, but I'm told this year's model is duly equipped!

yep the new jackets have hand gators too
and they are thin, so they will actually fit in ur gloves

on HMK's website, it states 15k waterproofing, and 10k breathability
but when I tried on the jacket today, it says 10k & 10k???

whats up w that? what is it then???

i tried the pants on today - man do they fit awesome
this stuff really was designed just like snowboard gear
and YES! the jacket is a bit longer too, so it will keep my a $$ warm!! haha!

thanks for everyone's input so far!
