Hitting the rev limiter

What RPM is the rev limiter set at on the new 800 engine and what's it's characteristics? I've seen 8200-8250 on the gauge then starts kinda popping. Nothing like how the pro hit the rev limiter. I figure it's going higher but not showin on the display.

The second ride mine increased to 8250 after limp mode shut off. I added the slp can before our ride yesterday riding the same area and it would hit 8450....yeah, too high but no rev limiter or anything, ran like crazy although I held off the full throttle. Only other difference was the weather, it was only about 10 to 15 degrees yesterday. I'm going to add weight but I've never seen that kind of change from a can?? Any ideas??

Rev limiter doesn't kick in until at least 8500. I was routinely hitting 8450-8500 last ride and mine never kicked in. I doubt the SLP can had anything to do with your increase in rpm. Mine has increased around 200 rpm at 9.3 hrs vs 3.2 hrs on the motor with no mods or clutching changes. Time for me to add some more weight to the primary.

yes ill agree, I do think there is a "soft" limit in the burn in chip as mine limited at 8200, no question about it at under 3 hours. It's very different from a pro hitting the limiter...

Thanks for the input. I have around around 4.5 on mine so not sure what's goin on then. Maybe it's still in break in.... I'm running 61.5g in togwotee. Never seen anything higher then 8250. I'm runnin your evolution can 2XM3 that's it. If the popping isn't normal then give me some ideas and plugs where changes out? When I say pops, it pops a couple times the comes out. Motor seems strong but that's why I wonder why about the rev limiter

I had about 2 hours on that can, did not notice anything, changed plugs about 1 hr in, they were pretty oil soaked, You might want to throw some more weight at it and see how it responds, I was running 64 gr at 7500 feet with it,

Your not hitting a rev limiter. They will turn 85-8600 no problem with out even a hiccup. I'm not saying to run it at that RPM, but it will turn that. Eric

At 9500 61.5g it was still doin it. I would put the stock can back on but don't have it with me. Does any one see higher than 8250 Before it acts it's hittin the rev limiter? Otherwise maybe it's not hittin the limiter....

ummm well we have put 10-56 in them to check at 3 hours running time, 8200-8250 rev limit solid on 2 different sleds, hopefully at more hours on them it should bump up to the 8500 area It would be really nice if Polaris would tell us exactly what the limits are in the break in period, my guess at this point is the rev limit raises with the oil calibration, ie when its done pouring the oil to it you finally have the "normal" limit of 8600+ SO if this is the actual case clutching is fruitless till around 10+ hours :bowl:

i hit over 8700 crossing water the dash started flashing red and dropped the rpm to 4500 would not let it go over till i stopped and restarted the sled

Thanks for the help guys. The first day of riding I would only see 8150 maybe 8200 with 60s. Middle of second day is when it started acting like it was hittin the rev limiter. I started seeing 8250. That's when I put in the 61.5g weights. I'll put more hours on it and see if the Rs go up. I'll keep you guys posted

Just an update. Hit 8300-8350 today with the 61.5g, same temps and elevation. It still popped a couple times but ran good. 10.1 hours
