Hitting Ears Friday and Saturday (Dec 28/29)

Damn, it is nasty up there. You never know what the weather is going to do at the Ears. Be careful if you venture out to find them Paul. I took your advice and finally bought a beacon. I bought the Pulse Barryvox beacon that comes with a pack, probe, shovel and blanket. I ride in avy areas quite often and need to quit taking the risk. Glad you made it home safely Jon. Hope to ride with you guys again.

I AM BACK, 12 hours door to door! Good thing I left as early as I did bushy, took me two hours to get to larime. Snowing and blowing like a mo-fo. Thanks again Jim and Paul for the hospitality, maybe next time you guys can keep up with the old, heavy, slow, short track mountain max:) It does start though, no punt intended:)

Low blow, buddy, low blow:beer;

Chit, Paul! If you go, be careful! I have been up there in this crap and it's easy to get turned around and lose your bearings, even if you know the area! Hopefully I will be up there Tuesday with the wife and kid. I got some good help from Kelsey at RKT, so I should have a good handle on what to do with my sled

I hope that all is ok up there!

wowee We were headed up to grand lake today...turned around just outside of Granby
Berthoud is a mess, total white out wind chill = frozen instantly

Good luck to anyone riding up there today

Hopefully it brings more snow, they need it

I have a bazillion maps on my gps and that's what I would rely, but following a GPS trail in a blizzard is still a major PITA. Probably a bad offer to make and nothing I would relish doing but I'd like to know I could rely on other sledders, but in our "nanny" state there's no way S&R would think anyone else could do better. I mean, they have 99 RMK's and groomers:). I have to hand it to my sled/camping brethren who didn't hesitate to volunteer, and they don't even seem crazy:) I went for a spin in the big meadow and it is butt ugly in the dark. Think I'll give up this notion and have a beer for my fellow sledders huddled in a damp hole on the mountain! They'll have a good story to tell and I sure hope they get back to their truck in the AM or I'll go looking to volunteer up.

I just talked with Routt County Sheriff and three men were found earlier today meeting this description, so I don't know what the story is here.

And, just go off the phone with Routt S&R and they found them around 9 PM. Good on S&R on this one and the Routt pow riders club!

:D

As of 1 PM. Still hammering down, but wind has let up good. Busy day tomorrow. I may need S&R to get out of this parking lot! Bring propane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i'll just stay all winter...and beer and hot shot:D

You still alive Paul? I need to hear the rock/boulder story Jeff:D. Sounds like it might have needed a Yammy to "straighten" him out. I don't think my XP would have won that contest:D My uncles have been in Grand Lake all weekend too. They probably put 6 miles on going up and down main street;)

Plenty of parking today!

Anybody that can get out is leaving. Wish CDOT would make an appearance.
Nice ride this morning, but ended with me on the rope AGAIN! No spark, zip, nada. Lucky we were near the trail.

Must be related to the guy who rebuilt the kitty:) LOL! Atleast it sounds like it is
nothing too serious. Was it bogging and you were trying to clear it out?:) Hope you get out within the next day or two....
