Hit a mud puddle and my truck quit...any idea?

Came around a corner today and I went through a massive mud puddle. I swerved to miss the deep part but my truck still got pretty wet (mostly on the right side).

About 100 yards after the puddle my truck shut off and hasn't run since. It doesn't even fire. The check engine light is not on and the air filter is bone dry.

This is on a 04 Dodge diesel...you guys have any ideas?

Check for water in main harness connections and like ^^^ check fuses. Check connection or damage to the crank sensor. Is the fuel pump turning on? These things has a lot of problems with the lift pump. Might be a coincidence. Sounds like you got water messing up the electrical.

gotta be water in the cap:D:D:D:beer;lol

This exact thing happened to my friends car in highschool - busting up puddles and then it died....in a big puddle. Cap was wet.

This same thing happens sometimes when you steam clean engines.

Does an 04 Dodge diesel have a distrubtor even? Sorry I am not as familiar with diesels

Was your air filter bone dry when it quit?

I would pull the glow plugs and check for water in the combustion chamber (remove plugs, crank starter), I doubt this is the problem unless you really soaked up some water into the intake (hydrolock)

Diesels do not have distributors. Seems like a wet or damaged sensor. Ive heard of newer vehicles getting hydrolocked by gettin the maf sensor wet, but if you say the airfilter was dry then that isnt ur problem.

Yesterday I pulled the code PO628 "Fuel pump relay control circuit low voltage". I googled the code and after reading through a few dozen websites it was pretty apparent that my lift pump is shot. It sounds like it's a pretty common problem on 03-04 Dodge trucks like mine. I still don't see the connection between hitting a mud puddle and having that pump go out because it's totally sealed but whatever.

Replacing the pump is a bigger job than I can handle so the truck's sitting at a local shop.

Thanks for all the responses, guys.
