CHEYENNE -- Officials with the U.S. Forest Service say they expect the annual Rainbow Family gathering to be held somewhere in Wyoming this summer.

The "Rainbow Gathering of Living Light" is a weeklong campout that has been held on federal lands around the country each year since the early 1970s. Thousands of people typically attend the events, which include music and socializing focused on the group's themes of peaceful living and caring for the earth.

"Stop drilling! No blood for oil! I haven't bathed in 3 months!"

*puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff* *give*

"My trust fund is paying for me to be here! I don't need oil, I ride the bus!"

*puff puff puff ...............

Pardon me whilst I go vomit.

Greg Clark, Big Piney district ranger with the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming:

Clark said the group didn't cause any major problems during the 1994 event.

"They were on the whole a good group. When they left, they left the area cleaner than they found it," he said.

What is he smoking. After they left Bear Valley, they closed the area for five years to let it recover. They had to install prota-potties, because the smell, and toilet paper, in the woods was starting to get out of control. Not to mention 25,000 people camping for a month, can do a lot of damage. If I went and started collecting firewood for 25,000 people, they'd throw me in jail. But instead, these guys get forest managers, porta-potties, a detachment of federal police, and a hundred forest service personel, attached to their un-licensed event, on our tax dollar. Real fair ricky ranger, real fair.

The Forest service people were saying it would take 3-5 years for the area they destroyed in steamboat to recover.

These are the people that are SSSOOOOOOO eviromental.

Stupid tie-dye wearing, dread lock having, dope smoking, peace loving, anti hunting, anti drilling faggotts! You watch, they'll cause big time problems this go around.

Whoa, that many folks in one area, that's gonna leave a huge foot print. Not to mention how it will impede the local wildlifes ability to feed and drink in it's natural ways.

Think of all the grass and floura that will be ruined. The dead firewood that is prime habitat for fungus and grubs. Man mother earth is gonna be stressed.

I say when word gets out of the location everyone should take the quads and bikes for a tour!!

hell im still trying to recover from when they were down here in the uintas years ago. nephews wanted to go try there new paintball guns out when they came. wouldnt take me with tough. they should go to central park or or some other big city. they would fit in and nobody would notice.

When they were in the uintahs they would come into evanston and use the produce sprayers to rinse their hair out on the produce. The stores would be forced to throw it away, the hippies would then go collect said produce and feed the camp for free.

Be careful messing with them, they kicked the **** out of a bunch of Ricky Rangers a couple years ago. Ran them off the mountain. Ricky Ranger needs a shotgun full of rock salt. I am kinda proud of them, their kinda like Teflon, forest service rules don't stick to them. And, the Forest Service has no clue how to control people that have no money, and don't mind going to jail. They have tried attacking their cars, ticketing and towing them. Or just setting up a checkpoint, and impounding the cars for safety violations. With current metal prices, even a junker is worth something. But, these guys are cool with walking, so it doesn't effect them much. And, some rich guy paid all their fines for them a couple years ago. Oh, and if you have a food bank, they'll empty it, and go buy beer. Disgusting little vermin they are.

Our sheriff said something about not wanting to foul his jail up with them.

This kinda thing really makes me sick. I don't have a problem with people doing what they want (Not showering, smot-poking, etc) but I do have a problem when their personal activities start affecting other people.

I agree with xrated... Snowest dirt bike ride 2008, pinedale WY?

I like the idea of grizzly bears. Very hungry, pissed off grizzly bears..........:D

About 7 or 8 years ago, I was working nights at the local truckstop. A couple hippies came in that smelled so bad that words can not describe the horrorish odor. Supposidly, they were on the way to the rainbow convention and had been out back walking their dog when one of them fell into a pile of rotten eggs that a trucker had been nice enough to through out. I don't know if that story was true or if they just stunk that bad, but it was awful. While they were still in the store, we were following them with lysol just to keep from puking.

In my dumb youth, I was niave enough to sell them a shower, thinking they would be decent people and keep the place clean. NOPE. The shower stunk so bad and was the dirtiest I had ever seen it. I think I vomited in my mouth when I went in there to clean it. I know I sprayed at least one whole can of lysol in that room before it was good enough for other people to use it.

Bottom line, if two rainbow convention hippys can smell that bad, I can't imagine how bad 25,000 can smell. Its got to be bad enough to make low flying birds fall out of the sky and to make pregnant elk sluff their calves. I feal sorry for the people of Pinedale. I wonder how bad they are going to try to mess with the rigs. Hopefully not that bad because if a roughneck has to take a 48 to a hippie, that 48 is gonna stink for a long time.

I'm down ... are there good places to ride dirt up there? :D

Um, heres an idea.
That area is LOADED with rough necks from the drilling rigs.
Give em a case of beer and 50 bucks to go party close to the hippies and watch the fun.

Won't that just result in a bunch of dirty hippie babies?
