Hillclimb racing in the northwest?

I've seen a few threads on here of hillclimbs up in Washington and around there. Don't know if they are santioned by anyone or just fun-run type get togethers. Seems like there is enough interest by riders to get something going in Wash, Northern Ore, and Northern ID, just don't know if there is a funding issue or permits, etc... I know it takes quite a large effort to organize one event much less start an entire association up. Definetly might take some pressure off the RMSHA circuit though.

I've heard most of it has to do with the financing and the liability.
isn't Loup Loup a sanctioned type race ?
it would just be fun to be able to go watch these events .

Just a group of people to run it and someone to insure it. Oh and someplace to have them. It's not a easy deal but I think it would be popular. Come on 39cat you can jump on this. ;)

I would love to have somthing around here.
I just know that it will be hard to find someplace to have them.
Kinda like the grass drags sorry to see them go away
I wouldn't mind helping out any way I could.

Sounds great, let's look at the options.
#1 Need snow
2 Three to four Ski hills to hold the event( White Pass, Hoo Doo, Ski Bowl, Loup Loup, Anthony Lakes ( 7100' normally have snow, when others do not. 3 Insurance $1600-3000 1 or 2 day event
4 Riders ( Would need 30-50 min, entries 60-200 @ $75-100 each
5 Try something different a new style of racing for crossover/mtn sleds, and call it a (Crossclimb). This type of racing already exist it's the name that's different. The hillclimb @ Anthony Lakes,Oregon is simular, using the lower half of the course like a cross country and the upper half like a hillclimb. Any input?.

6 Need a timing system.

That's about it, along with getting the insurance money up front before each race.

We would need 50 riders and have them enter at least 3 classes the spots to hold a event are the hard one but I know of three now and this would be for the winter of 2009 and 2010 it would have to be backed by ISR and you file for that in the summer.

Eric that sucks that you had to move, hope to see racing up there in the north west more for you. Good luck up there and mabe RMSHA will work its way closer for you and the Sharps.

Hillclimb Racing in the Northwest

I am putting together a MWR Snocross at Schweitzer for April 18th-19th,yes it is alot of work, details will follow, there is a chance to do a Hillclimb or Hillcross depending on how many entries,I agree on getting more Snomobile events in the Northwest, any ideas would be helpful

Anything I can do Pm me. I would be intrested in this for sure and I know atleast a dozen other guys are also. Don't know if you have heard but we are going to start a annual memorial ride on Jan 1,2009. This year is going to be a bbq and poker run just because we are so late in the planning. But we have some hills that would be perfect for some grudge match races. Also for a big event there has been talk and I think even permission from Duncan Howat to hold a hill climb at Mt. Baker. This is only rumor but from a very good source!

not done yeat.

the timing equipment is not that hard to come by for the good stuff it is not as much to buy if you check it out. there is alot that we will need to go into this and I would like to see it up and running for next season this post was to just see if there were enuff people around here to make it go with out racers there is no race and if we can keep it fun were every one has a good time I think it well work out.

Keeping it around here

I would not want to go into Idaho with out talking to rmsha this is not some thing that I would want to get into a fight with them over but some thing to help grow the sport in the north west this sport is in trouble and we can help keep it alive and well. But the way to do this is to work with the other association and not get in to bad mouthing each other. but to use each other to grow are sport. and with working together I think this can happen. Thank you all for your input and keep it coming so if you know of some were we could put on a event let me know thanks Eric.
