Hill City HillCross

I wont be since I broke my ankle at Telemark. In case anyone saw it and wondered why, for seemingly no reason, my arms went up in the air and I bailed off during the finish line jump: When I landed the jump prior to the finish line, I felt my left ankle break. Everything seemed fine onboard. The sled was coming down fine so the break was a surprise to me. Perhaps my foot wasn’t sitting quite right when I landed. Regardless, jumping off during the finish jump, and landing on my side on the snow, was a better Idea then landing on the sled and letting my foot take any impact. I had my helmet cam on during that run so I posted it on youtube. For some reason the camcorder broke that race into three files and missed some of it, so the video starts right when I’m hitting the finish, after the ankle was already broke. Does anyone have any other photos or video of this?

I’ll tag along with Dean E (#521 probably for Biwabik and Duluth)

i will be there and hopfully i will be feeling better. As of today my kidneys are bruised black and blue and my spine is bruised from about halfway down my back. But other than that it is just a little tough to move around, i keep getting horrile muscle spasms.

i probably wont be healed up. Tonight we were hunting coyotes and got the ranger stuck in like 3 ft. of snow so my back is all jacked up. To top that off im gettin a horrible cold, but i will be there.

If Dean could have got out of bed before the crack of noon, he might have caught it. I was in the staging line while we were waiting for the ambulance to get back when he strolls up and asks "what they are waiting for?" :face-icon-small-con

How's the ankle? Did you have to have surgery or just a cast? It's funny how you can break bones without even crashing. I forgot my good boots at home and was wearing some Pamida specials that I bought in Hayward, so I was a little leery of an ankle sprain or worse myself.

Does anyone know who rolled in the ditch on 77 West of Hayward? I know there was other races and riders in the area, so it may have not even been a hill-x or dragger. I think it was a dark blue Super Duty with about a 20' enclosed. Looks like the trailer may have passed the truck and they both wound up on their tops facing the wrong way. I was sideways and damn near bit the ditch a few miles outside of Hayward- I had to lock it in 4X and back it down to 40 or less almost all the way to Hinckley.

Haha true, true.

In other news, looks like I won't have my crap together for this weekend, so ski-gull it is.
