higher mileage RX-1

I'm looking for a decent priced 4-stroke and the ones that seem to be in my budget have mileages that are typically over 3500 miles.

The RX-1 has been out for a while now so the community should starting seeing some recurrent issues from the higher mileage sleds. What's cropping up? At how many miles are things showing up?

Is 3500 miles a lot for an RX-1 and what specifically should I be looking for in a pre-buy if I do decide to take a closer look?

Thanks guys.

My wife's TApex just turned over 4000 miles and it is running great. Check things like chain case, drive shaft, shocks... your typical wear items that you see failure on other sleds with the same mileage.

On a stock motor? Haven't seen anything. Boosted motors can be damaged, but usually from running too low octane for # of boost. The RX1 motor is just a detuned R1 motor. Meant to run 10000+ rpm all day long. The R1 motor was 180 hp(I think). The RX1 is 150 hp. Very durable motor. 3500 miles is nothing.

You might check the A-arm bushings. I purchased a clean Apex with 3000 miles and then realized, when I got home, that the bushings were gone. Runs great but the bushings are a pain to replace. Definately a time consuming procedure. There are some quality aftermarket bushings that should last considerably longer than stock. Am in the process of changing them now. Good-luck!!
