High School Senior Summer adventure..

Well in our student council class today our advisor, a 65 yr old government teacher who swears like a salior but is one of the best mentors I've ever had, spent a good part of the class period telling each one of us we need to have an adventure before our lives really kick in and its too and we're left regreting we didn't test ourselves.

He told us the story of how, after graduating from high school, a buddy and him flew to Europe and hitchhiked their way around for a few weeks. He said he really grew as a person, and we should do something that challenged us as well.

I was dead set on being a wild land firefighter, but after talking with them we couldn't make it work so that I could end the season early and attend college with the excellent scholarship I worked my butt off for.

So my question is this, I'm sure many of you took a senior trip or a senior adventure, I'm wondering what they were, and if any of you have advice I'm open ears!

I'm not looking to go to Florida for a week and party, I'm looking to learn something from it, grow a little.

Thanks,

Jaden

join the army

4 months after i graduated i got an all expense paid trip to the box...really get to see what your made of

Sounds like you're a lot more mature than me at that age. I partied and screwed. It was great but if I had to do it over again I'd do it different. I would have screwed and THEN partied. :D

Good luck at whatever you do. You sound like you got your sh!t together...I'm only hoping my kids turn out like you and not me (at that age ;) )

In this day and age , the hitch hiking thing is out, on the other hand pack up the cookie crew and go hike the narrows down in Zions.

Your teacher was a stoner... He flew to Amsterdam, got higher than giraffe balls in some "coffee shop" and went on a mind trip around europe for a couple hours. Now he teaches kids and tells this story every year to a new group of interested students. Either that or he really did it, which would be cool too. :D

Anyways, we had a class trip to Ocean Shores Washington when I was a senior, pretty fun.

Road trip up the Al-Can to Alaska ... awesome trip ;)

Same here, was a great time! Well other than the 7000 MILES roundtrip that took out a throw out bearing on a new dodge pickup it was great. We hit the end of the King salmon run and the start of the silvers run. I wish I wouldve had a MONTH instead of 2 weeks tho...alot more I wanted to see and do while I was there...and I hear the Alacan is a better road to travel in the winter cuz all the MONSTER potholes are filled with snow. Still was a good time with good people.

haha i'd have to laugh if the mind trip were true, his journal reveals otherwise however. He has a picture and journal entry from everyday going back to his junior year in highschool, he has walls and walls of journals..its crazy.

Thanks for the ideas, keep em comin!

Bubba, the cookie boys will definitly be doin it together

I lived in Minnesota at the time, me and my cousin loaded up are sleds and went west with no reservations anywhere. We just found snow and stayed where ever we found it. Colorado,Montana and Wyoming. I think we were out there for 15 or 16 days, still the best sled trip ive ever had. It seems that when you dont plan anything and go on the fly its always the best of times.

A year out of high school, I went custom harvesting. Worked a lot of long hours, but it was definately a learning experience.

Same with me I graduated last year. I quit my part time job I had in town and I worked full time (pretty much night and day) on a farm for a person we buy cattle from and I also worked alot on my grandpa's farm. I look back at that summer because I learned alot about farming and I someday hope to take my grandparents farm over. I was alot like you in high school insted of going to parties I stayed home and worked hard. One other highlight of my summer was about six of my best highschool friends got together and we took a week long trip to the lake and we camped, fished, tubed, cruised around on the boat and had fires everynight and had a blast. That was the last time I have seen some of them people. Word of advice keep in touch with your friends.
