High Mileage Sled Owners

What maintenance has been required for those of you with high mileage sleds? What all needs to be replaced or rebuilt during the course of a sleds life with high mileage?

You name it. And the only way to truly find out is to tear it apart 100%. I am rebuilding my 2008 M8 that has 4500 miles. I have fixed bulkhead cracks, replaced skid bearings, replaced diamond drive parts, speedo, gas gauge, exhaust springs, loose rivets, bent rails, throttle cable, track, torn motor mount, new primary clutch, lower plastics. And this was just stuff that was broken.
I am also rebuilding the motor.
The more miles, the more stuff that will have to be fixed/replaced.
However, in two seasons, and 4500 miles, I only missed 1 weekend of riding when the primary clutch rollers went out, and that was my own fault for not installing the set screws in the primary weights properly.

I also owned a crossfire 600 that I didnt touch a damn thing for 6000 miles. Was it running like new when it was sold? No, but it still ran and drove!

Just depends on how well they were maintained in the first place! And how hard they were ridden. I easily put on 4500 miles on one sled in one winter, usually just change belts, maybe hyfax, bearings in skid, grease it up every 500 miles or so, plugs if needed. Keep things tightened and take care of it well then not much will need to be changed out. Abuse them and you'll change parts more often than necessary.
And I define high mileage as over 10k on the odo.

I ride a '01 Mountain Max, well used to.

Summer maitnence usually consisits of:
-Change chaincase oil
-New plugs
-Hyfax
-Grease zerks

Good to go for another winter of thrashing it as hard as I can :)

Not sure how many miles are on her, when I took the hood off and replaced it with the BR tech one, the guages went as well. I believe it was around 5000+

Still haven't had to tear in to the motor, and it still runs very strong.

Here's the list of patrol sleds I have had during my career miles and maintanence needs.

93 Polaris 500 - 9500 miles - belts, plugs, carbides, lube
95 AC Cougar - 6500 miles - belts, plugs, carbide, lube
97 SkiDoo Formula 500 - 9500 miles - belts, plugs, carbide, lube
99 Skidoo Formula 500 - 6500 miles - belts, plugs, carbide, lube

05 Skidoo Renegade 600 - 6000 miles - belts, plugs, carbide, stator
07 Skidoo Renegade 600 SDI - 6500 miles - belts, plugs, carbide, TPS sensor, lube
09 Skidoo Summit 600 E-Tech - 7500 miles - belts, carbide, lube, battery, hyfax, track, fuel system filters, hand warmer, motor siezure last 2 miles of last day

like others have said, you have to check almost everything.

my 06 Rmk has about 8900 miles on it.

the following items have been replaced during the 8900 miles :
shocks - both front and rear
4 to 5 boggie wheels
drive shaft and jack shaft bearings
front and rear swing arms ( both arms snaped in half at around 8500 miles)
clutch
entire motor rebuilt at 7000 miles ( due to exploding clutch which caused crank to run out of true.
all motor mounts - broke 2 at about 7500 miles.
Steering loop ( support the handlebars)
replaced many rivets

the short story is that after about 7000 miles everything should be checked for cracks or bad bearings
